My friend ordered all new parts and can't get the GPU to work? No display shows up on the monitor etc, she has a EVGA 600 W3 as power supply a gigabyte b550m ds3h motherboard and the Gigabyte radeon rx 6600 xt gaming oc pro 8g, now the issue is ive seen her instal it myself and she did everything correctly, whenever she boots up the pc the fans on the gpu dont spin plus there is no display on the monitor, me myself have no idea what to do so i hope any of you guys could help.
Get a quality Power Supply .. I have a dead EVGA 600w 80 White dead PSU sitting here next to me. Sorry to say .. it's garbage.
Invest in a 650wtt 80+ Gold rated PSU from a reputable company and you'll probably be good to go if her current PSU didn't already damage her 6600xt
Never skimp on the PSU
He is right the PSU could be the problem.
First try different cables first. Sometimes switching from HDMI to Display Port can make a difference and vice versa. I know you watched it being installed so the second thing I would do is verify that the rest of the system is booting up. If it is then I would clear the CMOS. I know it doesn't seem like it would work but sometimes it does. If that doesn't work and you have an old GPU that you know does work try to boot using it. If that works run DDU and uninstall any old GPU drivers. The next thing I would do is shut down and try the new one once more. If it still doesn't work then I would contact Gigabyte on the phone.
The RX6600XT GPU card requires a minimum of 500 Watt PSU so you should have enough power for the GPU to boot into Windows.
Do you have the GPU's PCIe Power cable connected from the PSU to the GPU Power port?
Also you must have the GPU Card on PCIe Slot #1 which is the slot controlled by the processor and is the proper slot on your motherboard to run a GPU Card.
As mentioned unless you have a defective PSU not supplying enough power to the GPU card but it could also be other things.
If your PC is not booting up into Windows you should get a Motherboard VGA Trouble LED light lit up or Digital Code if your GPU card is not working.
If your Motherboard Trouble LED all turn on one at a time and then turn off while first booting up that indicates that BIOS checked all your hardware and it passed and allowed the PC to proceed to boot into Windows.
To make sure it is booting into Windows, look at your Computer Case HDD LED Light. It should be constantly flickering or on solid while booting up. If you see the HDD light flickering or on solid for at least 3-6 minutes then it is booting into WIndows. Therefore I would check your Monitor Cables and Monitors.
Make sure the Monitor cable is connected to the GPU card and not the Motherboard video outputs.
Exactly how is your monitor connected to the GPU card? Are you using a Adapter Converter cable?
NOTE: Your GPU card has Zero RPM feature but all the fans should turn on for a second or two when BIOS is checking your hardware during the initial BOOT sequence called POST. Then the fans will turn off and stay off until your GPU card reaches a certain temperature then the fans will automatically start running once the certain temp is reached and surpassed.
Best way to check the GPU card is by installing into another computer and see if it boots up into Windows with Video.
Are you at least sure that your motherboard BIOS is up to date so it can recognize your CPU properly?
Yes you need to plug in supplemental PCIe power. I think its a 6 pin.
@ThreeDee Well said..
That PSU is absolute trash...
