New Zen5 build freezing after 12hours

I just built a new system last weekend.

CPU: Ryzen 9950x

MB: AsRock B650E Taichi Lite

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 96GB

GPU: PowerColor Hellhound OC Radeon RX 7900 GRE

PSU: FSP Group Hydro Ti PRO 1000W

so far I got 4 freezes after around 12-18h uptime (forcing me to do a hard reset), thrice when idle, once while under load.  Bios is on AGESA 1.2.0.0a Patch A. The only thing that isn't set to default in bios so far is ram overclocked to 6000 with xmp (I had it at 6400 but lowered to 6000 in case that caused the freezes). Temps are mostly between 50-75C depending on load. I'm running Linux and the logs just stop just before the freeze happens so there's no help there.

Any suggestions what might be the cause of these freezes?

Can you temporarily try removing one memory stick from the system and see if that changes anything?

The new 9900X and 9950X require the same Windows setup as previous generation 7900X3D and 7950X3D with 3DvCache on one CCD. The stringent setup requirements address core scheduling and enable core parking to prevent cross-CCD cache latency.

Not aware of any solution for Linux or if this would cause the "freeze" you're reporting but worth mentioning.

Otherwise check the memory, assuming 2x48GB kit, is listed on the motherboard QVL?

Memtest86 completed without any errors, multiple stress tests complete as well. Compiling on all cores for multiple hours also without a problem. It just decides to freeze randomly at 12h+

I don't know what else to check. Hopefully it's a bios issue that will get fixed.

Please enter the BIOS and restore the factorey default BIOS settings. Then, search your Motherboard BIOS and look for an option called 'Power Supply Idle Control'. Set this to typical and save and exit the BIOS and see if that helps. You can apply your memory settings later to see if the issue is resolved by trying the above.

Did the reset and enabled set Idle Control to typical. System froze just before the 12h uptime mark. I tried removing the dGPU now so I'm running on iGPU. Will see tomorrow if any luck with it. I wish I had a spare AM5 cpu to test with.

It's not the GPU, system froze on iGPU just shy of 12h uptime.

It looks like this was the problem. One of the sticks alone in B2 freezes the system at 11h 45min, the other in same B2 keeps going 24h+. Tried twice for the working one. I guess I'll have to rma the ram.

Now that's good debugging!

Good luck with the RMA.
