My RX 6650 XT works worse than my older RX 470

Recenctly I have bought a RX 6650 XT, it should be better than RX 470 but when I´m playing EU4 (Europa Universalis 4) It is imposible to handle, just 7 or 8 FPS. When I had my RX 470 I use to play normally, I don´t know what is happening. Any of you know about this?

Best regards,

I can't help you much, but your problem is something that causes me concern.  I am running an RX 480 and have been looking seriously at the RX 6650 XT as an upgrade.  So you can understand my concern.

What motherboard and CPU are you running?  Have you got a large enough PSU.  If the card is not receiving enough power it can cause major problems.

If it ain't broke; don't fix it!

Did you do a clean driver reinstall? When changing GPUs you should always completely remove old drivers using DDU and then install new ones cleanly. Try doing that now, DDU the drivers and install them cleanly, might help.

Also, make sure your screen is plugged into the GPU itself and NOT into the motherboard. Otherwise the PC will be using integrated graphics (if you have it) instead of your proper GPU which might explain low performance.

What other hardware are you using? The 6650 XT is a PCIe 4.0 x8 card meaning if you use it in an older motherboard that has older PCIe version there might be problems coming from there.

Hello @CaligoVereor  and @Vynski ,

I have a LGA 2011 system (Motherboard: Machinist X99 MR9S), my CPU is a Xeon 2666 V3 and I own a 650W PSU.

About driver reinstall, I did it several times, this behavior is just with this 10 years old game, I haven´t integrated graphics.

My Pci-e is 3x PCI-e 3.0 x16.

Best regards,

In addition, my screen is a 43" TV, not a monitor.
