Incompatible IGPU and discrete GPU?

Hi

I have a Ryzen 5 5600g that I bought specifically for the integrated feature, which was necessary at the time since I couldn't afford a discrete/ dedicated graphics card, but recently I was able to buy a discrete one, a Gigabyte RX 7600 gaming OC. I connected to the computer and downloaded the drivers available in the gigabyte site just as briefed in the quick-guide leaflet that came with the GPU.

At first it worked just fine and I was able to run games while using the dedicated one but in the following night I realized that the dedicated wasn't being recognized by the system, so I went and enabled the "normal initialization" in system configuration. Not long after the computer stopped working completely even though image was being displayed and I couldn't even turn it off in the menu, I would click but with no response so I had to turn it off by pressing the button.

Upon starting again it was "normal" but with the same issue of clicking without response and to make a test I disconnected the cable of my dedicated GPU what brought the computer to the normal working state. My guess is that it is driver's issue but I not  certain.

I would like to know if I can have both of them running along, for example, the IGPU for starting the system and running more basic apps and the discrete for games and other heavier apps. I believe that turning off the IGPU in the BIOS may solve the issue but I want to know other's thoughts on the matter.

Can I run both at he same time as I first intended?

If not, Will the running system and smaller apps be of significant impact on the performance of the discrete GPU?

Thanks in advance!

Well, for me I set integrated card on with only 128MB so that if GPU broke at least you can still going to BIOS and set it up to pointing to integrated till you buy new GPU.

Or if you disable it and GPU broken then also can reset BIOS so back to its default configuration to use integrated first.

For me just use all GPU if you have GPU. GPU is powerfull so no need to like saving resource to run like VLC film under integrated because GPU can run that without a sweat.

So, you like want iGPU HDMI goes to your second monitor and GPU discrete connect to main monitor?
Well, some motherboard BIOS has option called iGPU Multi Monitor and  you can try it.

My motherboard does not have this feature. I try it and only works 5 seconds and black screen.

But if you are asking why in device manager you see 2 drivers of AMD and one not recognized, it because that 5600G only support till 24.9.1 instead of current today 25.1.1. Install that 24.9.1 (it will not overwrite your 25.1.1) and device manager will show all driver installed correctly. Keep that 24.9.1 installer because next time you do DDU it will be also removed.

Actually at first, I thought that I could run both with a single monitor but now I understand that it is not possible, at least not in my current set up.

I understand the part of the difference in updates and how it is an issue. You clarified a lot.

So, Would the best I can do be to disable the integrated card in the BIOS?

Thank you.

I ended up disabling the integrated and left everything for the dedicated. Now it is all going smoothly.
