I've had this laptop for a few the only problem with this laptop was that rust was the only game that was unplayable because for some reason it locks in my integrated graphics instead of using my rx6550 I upgraded my drivers i did everything but it would just stay in integrated graphics i want to go to bios and set my default Graphics card to rx6650 but I'm scared since this is my first laptop I don't know too much bout pcs if anyone could help it will be much appreciated
Yes, you need to set the RX6650 as default in the BIOS and/or disable onboard graphics.
There is no risk by doing this.
You can change the default graphics card in the BIOS, but be careful if you're new to it. Before making any changes, ensure your BIOS is up-to-date. In the BIOS, look for an option related to Graphics Configuration or Display settings, and try switching it to Dedicated Graphics or manually set the RX 6650 as the default. If you're unsure, you can also check the laptop’s Graphics Settings in Windows (under Display Settings > Graphics Settings) to force games to use the dedicated GPU. Just make sure to follow any specific guides for your laptop model to avoid issues.
To be honest, there is never a need to update the BIOS for these changes on a working CPU.
In the worst case you need a BIOS reset at most.
Could i have your discord and you could walk me through it i would very much appreciate this because im new to pc and im very scared to go to bios because it looks scary and don't wanna end up breaking my new laptop if you could walk me through it would much appreciate
I don't use discord and i am not an AMD employee either.
I am just a user on this forum and not a personal teacher.
If you are scared of breaking your laptop then you shouldn't be doing it at all and let it be done by a real person with skills (the shop where you bought the laptop for example)
But asking for a personal assistant is not how this works.
At least you should have begun with : how much does your assistance costs ?
You should be asking on the laptop maker support forum.
There may be some setting you need to make in their software, or in the Windows OS the options to
enable/switch to the RX card for gaming.
You should not need to change anything in bios unless they specify it.
