Help! Driver/PSU? Issues

I was playing GTA one day when I tried to open Netflix on my second monitor. At this time, my pc instantly froze and my monitors turned off. I was still hearing the game audio and Netflix though, so I decided to just shut off my pc from the power button. I then opened the pc again, and my pc was running on integrated graphics, with my GPU showing “disabled” in device manager. When trying to enable it, it gives me an error stating I have no drivers. Later, I fully uninstalled using DDU and installed a new set of drivers, but the same thing continued happening. Some people having a similar issue suggested power supply issues, Pcie slot issues, graphics card issues, I just don’t know what direction to head in. Please help!

GPU: Sapphire RX 6700 XT CPU: Ryzen 5 7600x Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk Power Supply: Corsair RM850e (gold) Ram: Corsair 32gb DDR6 6000MHZ

If your PC is running on integrated graphics that means your monitor must be plugged into the motherboard instead of the GPU itself. Check that, make sure it's actually plugged into the card.

I just made a post on this as I am having specific issues. If you feel mechanicaly enclined I fixed a similar issue (GPU would black screen and I had no picture besides intigrated. Uninstalling and reinstalling drivers with ddu did nothing). I have to remove my gpu: power cycle and unplug, removing power pins, unscrewing the gpu, pushing the release on the pcie slot on the motherboard, and pulling the card. This worked for me and if you are losing hope I'd give it a shot. Once you reinstall the gpu (make sure your monitors are now at this point plugged into the gpu), launch the download file of whatever install of amd adrenaline you use (I use 24.5.1) and it should give you a 6700xt repair option.

Thank you so much for the information.

Tackling driver or PSU issues can feel overwhelming, but solving such challenges is often about staying persistent and methodical. It’s similar to reflecting on personal experiences in writing—sometimes the toughest moments teach us the most. If you’re looking for examples of how to narrate personal growth through challenges, here are a personal experience essays. Exploring these can offer inspiration for problem-solving in technical and personal contexts alike.

Facing this exact issue, like almost every other Amd user it seems. I'm at the point of just buying an nvidia card now as its been months. I can't game for more than 1 hour and it will cut out randomly at any point up to that. From old games made in 1998 to modern day

A Corsair 850e Gold PSU should be provide enough power to run multiple Monitors at the same time with your GPU card and CPU installed unless it is going bad.

Any error messages popped up besides Device Manager error message?

The AMD Graphics driver is compatible with both your IGPU and GPU card.

Download OCCT and run all three tests (CPU, GPU, and PSU) and see if any of the test fails. Make sure to keep a close eye on Power outputs, Temperatures, and Fan speeds.

Run DXDIAG.exe and click on "save file" to your PC. Open it and go to the last Category and see which files are having issues.

Click on Windows Event Viewer then click on "Errors" and see if any corresponds to the GPUs or Drivers.

Try running both monitors from just the GPU card or IGPU using the Motherboard's Video Outputs and see if the issue happens again.

Run in a elevated Command Prompt/Powershell the following simple line command:

SFC /scannow

This will check your Windows OS for corruption or missing critical files.

Using DDU remove your current AMD Driver and boot up. Windows should install its native MS BASIC DISPLAY ADAPTER driver to run both your GPU and IGPU.  See if the problem occurs.

After troubleshooting open a AMD SUPPORT TICKET from here: https://www.amd.com/en/forms/contact-us/support.html

THIS SOLVED IT FOR ME.

MONTHS of thinking I had a hardware or software issue I just couldn't find the fix for. Screens cutting to black whenever I gamed and being forced to reinstall drivers every 30 mins. I was so close to binning the GPU and buying an nvidia.

I dont know exactly what was  fixed, I downloaded OCCT and ran the tests. All was fine.

I checked my error logs, nothing asides from the hard restarts when the GPU died and went to black.

Then I ran the elevated sfcscan now command from powershell and it didnt work, had to go to my cmd line to be able to activate the admin abilities.

Ran it and whatever the hell happened, worked. Been on this PC all day not a single black screen. Whoever you are. Thank you

If you ran SFC scan and it fixed your specific issue indicates that you had a corrupted Windows OS.

Either a file(s) were missing or corrupted. SFC repaired those Windows files thus fixing your issue.

That makes sense now in hindsight. If I think back, whenever I rebooted after an incident I would get an error 31 message from Windows on the driver itself if I clicked into the properties.

That usually indicates Windows is having a hard time connecting to the driver or software.

In my naivety, I thought that was due to something occurring when the crash was happening and it was somehow unable to locate the driver.

Now I realise it was something with windows.

It also explains why a TON of users on here are experiencing the same issue. Because they are all building new pcs and downloading windows themselves with keys etc which is leading to this same issue.

It also explains why amd aren't addressing it. Because the issue lies with the OS install.

Honestly, thank you. I really really was at the end of my tether. At the point I was likely going to damage the gpu or the mobo from fiddling about with it.

I might even put up an FYI post as people need to know this is the fix. So many people on here are stressing over this.

Thank you again

Don't generalise. Your problem is your individual case. Most people here who have problems with AMD graphics cards have nothing wrong with their operating system, other hardware and drivers.

My OS *appeared* to be fine.

Windows found no corrupted files. It ran as it should. For all other functions it worked perfectly.

I tried every fix on these forums I could find for games going to a black screen. nothing worked until I ran the sfc scan now command and it fixed corrupted files in Windows that are Only used for the drivers and GPU.

Unless you were gaming the rest of the OS would function as normal.

you're actually the one generalising by saying "most people".

Regular scans showed no errors, issues in the log

elastic: Thanks for the information! No one responded to me. I did multiple benchmarks no issues. Windows detected no errors, or unexpected issues. Turns out my psu 750w was fine for "running my pc". The issues started when games caused power spikes and my psu basically said f*** it we out. Planning on stress testing with a 1000w to make sure. If this is the case you my man are a legend. Never tried OCCT.
