hdmi to hdmi cable is working, but hdmi to vga convertor not working

I have a pc of Asus EX-A320M-GAMING AM4 Socket and ryzen3 2200 G combination. I have a monitor of HP which has only VGA port. As my motherboard has not any VGA port (have HDMI and DVI-I) and my monitor has only VGA port, I was using an adapter (HDMI to VGA). It was working fine. But suddenly one day, it was not working while I was playing a game. But it is still working with an HDMI cable to a monitor that has an HDMI port. Note: the adapter is working fine with other pc. Now, I can't understand where is the problem and what should  I do.

Do you have an "Active" HDMI>VGA Adapter?

Yes, adapter is fine.

from reading your original post it seems like your Motherboard's HDMI output is good since it works fine with a regular HDMI cable.

When you mentioned that your adapter works fine with another PC is that with your VGA Monitor connected?

When it stopped working did you add or remove any hardware from your computer?

Did you update any drivers at that time?

Yes, I have checked my vga monitor with other cpu and it works fine.

It was stop working during playing a game. At the time of gaming suddenly display became off. And it was continuously on and off. Then i have disconnected the power from cpu and check the RAM after then when I reconnect it was shows no vga signal.

to eliminate the AMD Driver, uninstall the AMD Driver using DDU and just use the MS BASIC DISPLAY Driver and see if you get any video output to your monitor.

If it starts working then install the AMD Driver again using the last WHQL driver from AMD Download page: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-20-4-2

Otherwise I am out of suggestions except maybe open a AMD Service Request (Official AMD Support) and see what they recommend: https://www.amd.com/en/support/contact-email-form

NOTE: You mentioned that with a different APU is works fine, if your APU Processor is still under 3 years old and it is a Retail bought processor you can always open a AMD Warranty Request and see if AMD believes you need to RMA your processor to be checked or replaced: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/warranty-information/rma-form

Thanks for your important and valuable suggestion.

Here is a question, after uninstalling my graphics driver, if there is no display showing with the HDMI to HDMI cable also; then what should I do

Your APU Graphics should work with MS Basic Display adapter. MS Basic Display driver is just that, a very basic Windows native graphic driver so that you will be able to have video to be able to do any troubleshooting or updating the GPU's driver.

Whenever I uninstall my Nvidia Graphics driver, I have video from POST (BIOS) all the way up to Windows Desktop where I can set my resolution to 4K all using MS Basic graphics driver until I update and install my Nvidia Graphics driver.

So either your motherboard or APU is having problems or has become partially defective.

I would open a Asus Warranty Support ticket or have an Online CHAT with Asus Support to see if you need to RMA your Motherboard.

From what you have explained is that all this happened while in the middle of a game suggest that something went bad since it hadn't fixed itself after restarting your computer.

While gaming tends to put a heavy load on the processor and GPU and other components. Maybe something overheated and something got damaged. Just my observations and opinion.

You can always Stress test your CPU,GPU, & PSU using OCCT free diagnostic software and see what happens. If it fails any of the Stress tests. Also keep an close eye on PSU Outputs and Temperatures of various hardware while stress testing.

EDIT: if you don't have any video after uninstalling your AMD driver, Try to enter Windows Safe Mode that doesn't use the AMD Graphic driver but MS Basic Display driver and try to reinstall the AMD driver.

If not, run your Windows 10 Installation disc and go to Troubleshooting Menu and restore your computer back before you removed the AMD Driver or restart your computer 3 times to get to the Windows 10 Troubleshooting Menu after it passes POST or BIOS window.

Here is the specs for your Motherboard's Integrated Graphics: EX-A320M-GAMING | Motherboards | ASUS Global

Seems like Asus has some updated drivers and BIOS for your motherboard: EX-A320M-GAMING Driver & Tools | Motherboards | ASUS Global

Maybe updating the BIOS and CHIPSET might help but I doubt it since it was working fine before.

EDIT: Try running DXDIAG  and "Save file to .txt" and attach DXDIAG.txt to your next reply. It might show what files or programs are having problems.

Is this the Resolution your VGA Monitor is running at: 1366x768@60Hz ? Very odd Resolution. You can't set it at 1920X1080 Resolution or your Monitor doesn't support that high of a Resolution.

Sorry I meant for you to save the DXDIAG.txt file and then attach it to your reply. That file in the last category called Diagnostic shows all the programs and files you are having problems with or had problems with.

I suppose Device Manager is not showing any error when you have the AMD Driver installed.

Also Windows Event Viewer is good at detecting issues by going to "Error" and seeing if any of those errors coincides with your issue of with the Integrated Graphics.

my device chooses this resolution as a suitable.

Thanks.

First disable AMD User Experience from Radeon Settings. This has 3 entries as showing having issues. This feature has caused problems in the past with other Users.

This is how to disable it: https://www.amd.com/en/corporate/amd-user-experience

One issue with Windows Update - TiWorker.exe.  You can run both Windows Update Troubleshooter from Windows Settings and run in a elevated Command Prompt or Powershell - SFC /scannow to make sure your Windows is not corrupted or missing files.

SFC /scannow might also fix - WindowsWcpOtherFailure3 that shows up 3 times.

But I don't believe any of the above is causing your issue even though it would be a good idea to either disable AMD User Experience and check your Windows OS for corruption or missing files.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Let me recap so far what is happening:

1- Everything was working normally until in the middle of playing a game your computer crashed and after restarting your lost your HDMI>VGA video signal to your VGA Monitor.

2- Your Motherboard's HDMI video output works normally when you connect a straight HDMI cable to a HDMI Monitor.

3- Your HDMI>VGA Adapter works normally when connected to another computer.

4-Your VGA Monitor works normally on another computer. Which means your VGA Cable is good.

______________________________________________________________________________________________

To rule out a defective HDMI port on the Motherboard, is it possible for you to get a Active DVI-D>VGA adapter and see if your get video on your VGA Monitor?

Or temporarily install a GPU card and see if it works normally using your HDMI>VGA adapter.

Otherwise I suggest you open a AMD Service Request (Link in previous reply) and see what they recommend.

I would open also a Asus Support ticket and see what they recommend.

Sorry but I am out of suggestions. Personally to me it sounds like a hardware became defective. If your APU was defective I don't believe you would have gotten HDMI Output from the Motherboard.

I have  reinstall the AMD driver, but it still the same.

My old MSI B350M Bazooka has VGA, DVI and HDMI on it. With an APU installed it can run most any panel around within limits.

Full machine specs would be useful for me to help identify a solution
