Dual monitor (144hz freesync + 75hz no freesync) crashes gpu with black screen UNRESOLVED

Ever since I got a new 75hz monitor I've been having annoying gpu crashes when clicking on or out of fullscreen applications or videos on my second monitor which then crashes all applications. What happens is that I click on the video and then it will freeze for a second and then cut to black on both monitors followed by all applications being crashed.

It might be important to know that I use display port on my main monitor (144hz Samsung model code LC24RG50FZLCZB) and HDMI on my second (75hz Dahua DHI-LM24-B200S)

Specs are:

Ryzen 5 5600

Rx 6600xt powercolor

DA550 80 plus bronze deepcool psu

Asus prime a320m-k

16gb ddr4 3200mhz ram

It sounds like you're experiencing a GPU crash due to the dual monitor setup, especially when switching fullscreen apps or videos between screens. Here are a few things you could try to resolve the issue:

  1. Check GPU Driver: Ensure that your GPU drivers are fully updated. Sometimes, specific monitor configurations can cause issues with outdated drivers.

  2. Adjust Refresh Rates: Since your monitors are running at different refresh rates (144Hz vs 75Hz), try setting both monitors to the same refresh rate (if possible) and see if the issue persists.

  3. Disable Hardware Acceleration: In some applications (like browsers or media players), hardware acceleration can cause crashes when switching fullscreen. Try disabling hardware acceleration in these apps to see if it helps.

  4. Monitor Connections: You might want to try switching the cables or ports (for example, using HDMI for both or DisplayPort for both) to see if that makes a difference. Sometimes mixed cables (HDMI and DisplayPort) can cause issues with certain GPU models.

  5. Power Settings: Check your power settings and ensure that your system is not entering sleep or low power modes that could affect the GPU.

  6. Test the System on a Single Monitor: Try using only the 144Hz or 75Hz monitor at a time to see if the issue is specific to the combination of monitors or one of them in particular.
