Does the Athlon 200GE support 4K HDR 60fps video playback?

Does the Athlon 200GE support 4K HDR 60fps video playback? For example will it playback Netflix HDR? Can it play it back in other desktop video players?

The APU does support 4k but as far as HDR at 60 FPS, I don't honestly know. Here is the review on that APU : AMD Announces New $55 Low-Power Processor: Athlon 200GE

This is a Low Cost APU with Vega 3 Graphics. The Graphics is not as powerful as some high cost APUs.

Here is 3DMARK Test results using the Athlon 200GE with Vega 3 : AMD Radeon Vega 3 Mobile video card benchmark result - AMD Athlon Pro 200GE,ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. TU...

This website gives several 3DMark test results with FPS and other tests which might help in understanding the Vega 3 Graphics Specs: AMD Radeon RX Vega 3 GPU - NotebookCheck.net Tech

According to the Tests running HD Games, the maximum FPS for 1920 x 1080 is less than 29 FPS. Only 2 or 3 games had FPS higher than 25 FPS using the Vega 3 iGPU.

Were you able to find a solution for this? I am planning to build HTPC and I would like to know if this is solved before I choose my CPU.

I did some testing and I do not believe that it supports 4K HDR 60 FPS. If it's supposed to it's not stable. YouTube 4K 60 FPS works fine but when I tried watching 4K HDR 60 FPS sample videos Windows 10 would crash with a VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE error message. I tried watching them with VLC 3.0.4 and with Windows Media Player with HEVC Extension installed. Below were my system specs:

Radeon Software Version - 18.10.1

Radeon Software Edition - Adrenalin

Windows Version - Windows 10 (64 bit)

System Memory - 8 GB

CPU Type - AMD Athlon 200GE with Radeon Vega Graphics

Motherboard - Gigabyte B450 I AORUS Pro WiFi

If it's supposed to it's not stable.

4k 60hz decoding its not big task.

For axample old 2009 years Phenom II X4 can decoding 4k 24hz!!!!
You just think about it!!!
2009 years CPU and 4K!!!
Try it and its work!

I try Core i5-2300 1155 socket and its decoding 4k 60hz perfect!
BUT THERE NO ANY BOARD WITH HDMI 2.0
Only DisplayPort and its big problem!!

Athlon AM4 have almost same performance with i5 1155 socket, so it can decoding 4k 60hz werry well by CPU Cores, but its also have werry power Graphics cores, so 4k 60hz working perfect!
AMD did great jub!

You just need HDMI 2.0 port or DisplayPort....
Boards on A320 support only old HDMI 1.4

With K-Lite codec pack and MPC-HC with MadVR, I could play 4k HDR movies, also stream 4k HDR from Youtube and Netflix.

Also tested with sample videos, up to 4k60, worked fine. The only thing you have to to l for is support for HDMI 2.0 on the motherboard side.

Hello,

Thank you for your question! At its limit, the Athlon might be able to handle 4K@60Hz video (which I personally doubt for smooth playback). And I would go for AMD Ryzen 3 3200G and DDR4-2933 memory—two 8GB cards each. The difference in capability is huge.
