Does Memory Context Restore persist after power loss?

Hi! I'm going to build my AM5 PC soon, and i heard things about long boot times on it, which is apparently can be resolved by MCR.

Will my PC load faster with MCR if it had power outage since last boot, or it must have constant uninterrupted connection to power grid at all times for MCR? And i cant find any info about where is MCR storing its parameters for faster boot (BIOS, RAM, disk)?

Hi, were you able to figure this out? I think MCR cause PC to not boot up if power has been lost.

I've been troubleshooting on an MSI pro B650-P WIFI mobo. Someone said turn on MCR to improve boot time, so I did that, then I restarted, it was faster. Then I unplugged PC and moved it to new location. Then I got red and green EZ DEBUG LED lights.

I took pc back to the workbench, cleared CMOS. Restarted, shutdown, a couple times. Working fine. Then I disconnect and move pc again, same EZ DEBUG lights. No boot.

I'm going to clear CMOS again and disable MCR. I also read my g skill 32gb dual kit might not be actually be expo compatible. I already have expo off. I might buy different ram if PC still won't boot with MCR off.

Hi,

Memory Context Restore once enabled will make a long boot to train and the next ones will be shorten. From what I've read, if there is an extended power outtage it may need to do the memory training again, but not always.

There are lots of boards and memory stick combinations, so its not easy to tell you how much time you should expect during boot.

There are some board/memory combinations (or BIOS versions) that even won't let you enable MCR. Which is my case. However, I'm not worried by 20seconds boot time, in my case.

Always follow QVL to mitigate possible problems and get EXPO certified memory.

There is also some situations where if you enable Memory Power Down it will make MCR stable.

Good Luck
