Confirmation - Number of Lookup Tables (LUT) in 2019

Hello,

I've read several previous posts on this forum regarding the number of lookup tables (LUT) in amd graphic cards.

Back in 2012 amd seemed to have confirmed that

Radeon ===> 1 LUT

Firepro ===> 2 LUT

https://community.amd.com/message/1285510?q=Lookup%20Tables%20(LUT)

The same trend seems to have been present in 2017 when someone asked about the RX 480

https://community.amd.com/message/2786298#comment-2787084

Am I correct in assuming that this trend is still true for all the cards to this date , and probably for upcoming cards like the Radeon 5500?

Thank you!

The Look-Up Tables are part of the Programmable Colour Compression and yes are still present even on Navi.

Mind these are as a note a key reason as to why Colour Modes are costless on said Hardware... unlike NVIDIA Hardware., and while and argument can be made that it reduces the Colour Ranges; the reality is AMD do pour a lot of R&D into Colour Reproduction on their Hardware; with a focus on what can be physically be perceived.

I mean keep in mind all Tone Mappers are, which are still used for HDR/WCG; are LUT.

They're somewhat necessary., and likely will be for some time; but remember AMD Hardware is still CAPABLE of running in Native FP16 Per Channel (if desired).
