Makes me think...10 years ago, well almost 11 now, I bought this laptop in college...for $1000...And I had to buy an extra extended capacity battery to make it last 8 hours, and even then it was a stretch, even after I replaced the HDD with a SSD. Now we're talking AMD mobile processors which can beat Intel and push the envelope while, supposedly, outlasting them in terms of battery (Bergman's 18 hour statement battery life statement, yea right)...Didn't think I'd see the day...

Yup I am happy for them. The better they do overall should allow them the resources to address remaining issues for all products.

Let us pray one day RTG gets their ßutt in gear, and becomes as innovative and competitive as the CPU division is...Next console refresh cycle, there's a distinct possibility Intel could be a viable contender for their chips...

Good point. Not only would when it comes to consoles would it not be needed to be the best, just competitive, but I would bet that Intel would take a loss to keep AMD out.

And another thing to think about are remote game services, like GeForce Now. While they're in their infancy now, what's it going to look like 4-5 years from now for the next console refresh? Can AMD afford to miss out on what could be a market which could eliminate gaming consoles as we know it?

I know everyone talks about the latency and what a big deal that is. Honestly the lions share of gaming still isn't First Person Shooters. A huge segment of gaming isn't much affected by latency. So yes it is hard to say how these service will affect things in the near future. At the beginning of almost every new era the nay-sayers don't believe it will work, and it pretty much always does.

Well not much chance of all, but no telling what the toll will be.

I just hope everyone follows good hygiene practices and is non-selfish about putting others in harm.

Likely far fewer than the 30,000 or so who die every year of the flu.
