Cannot set 4K resolution

PC with i5 6600K 3.5gHz processor, 16Gb 2400Hz DDR4 RAM, Radeon RX580 8Mb graphics and a LG 27UL550 monitor. Maximum resolution achieved is 1920 x 1080 but should with this setup be able to get 4K resolution.

Have checked the display resolution in Win 10, updated all drivers etc.  On issue is I'm using a cable which has a a DVI plug for the video card and a display port plug for the monitor.  Would it be better to use the HDMI monitor socket, please?

It is best to use direct HDMI output to HDMI Input.

If you are using a DP or DVI adapter to HDMI to your TV set it is most likely the adapter that is the problem.

You will need  a HD DP>HDMI or HD DVI>HDMI "Active" adapter to get higher resolutions.

Many inexpensive Adapter/cables doesn't support 4K resolutions unless you purchase a HD 4K adapter/cable.
