I have this issue too. I believe this was a permissions issue with the gmdb.blb that the app creates. If you go to Run, then type: %localappdata%/AMD/CN then delete gmdb.blb then right click the icon in the system tray to open the app. You may have to stop the service that's hanging from task manager.
From what I remember, this is a long known issue that crops up now and then. The app creates said file and somehow your windows user account looses administrative control of it after some change is made. Eg when you go to open the app again and the backend runs it's checks, it hangs indefinitely waiting for the permission to edit the file.
The actual fix for all of this involved crazy shuffling windows admin accounts to give w/e user account you use back the control it needs over the file. As lazy user my self, I just shake my head and delete the file when this pops up. You could right a simple .bat to tuck in a folder for a day like this, but like I said I'm lazy.
The CN folder it's in is regenerative so no worries about loosing anything if you delete it outright. (Another potential fix for this)
