Improving Game Image Quality: AMD Radeon Image Sharpening
We all know how new and upcoming AAA titles can put a strain on graphics, especially those running at 4K resolutions and above. Gamers often reduce their resolution to improve the overall performance on some demanding titles. Radeon Image Sharpening (RIS) is a new quality enhancement feature designed to provide gamers with stunning looking visuals even at those lower resolutions. This new technique, available initially on the new Radeon RX 5700 series graphics, takes an image and applies an intelligent algorithm to sharpen and upsample it, delivering a crisp image with virtually no performance penalty1. Gamers can now have the best of both worlds – amazing visuals they crave, and performance they need.

Improve Gaming Response Time: AMD Radeon Anti-Lag
In ideal conditions, when a gamer clicks on a key and the CPU registers the work, the GPU will render out the corresponding frame to the monitor at almost the exact same time. However, when the GPU is pushed to its limits, the CPU work gets queued up while it waits for the GPU to finish, which results in the gamer experiencing lag. We’ve developed Radeon Anti-Lag to better handle those requests coming in from the user so that they don’t get queued up as often waiting for the GPU to complete its task. The result is a 31% average reduction in click-to-response times2, vastly improving the fluidity of gaming in these types of GPU bound scenarios.

Radeon Chill
We introduced this innovative feature a few years ago to reduce power consumption and noise while limiting the effect on performance, so users won’t perceive any difference. Today’s latest release takes it another step further by refining Radeon Chill to have display-aware tuning. Chill can now automatically set frame-rate caps to match your monitor’s refresh rate, whether it’s a static or adaptive FreeSync panel. By working within this range, gamers will get smooth gaming and power savings to boot, with up to 2.45x more savings than before.3

AMD Link/Radeon ReLive
Back in December of last year, we introduced a cool feature in Adrenalin 2019 Edition, where users could play PC games on virtually any mobile device connected to their home wifi using AMD Link, a free app that is available for download on Apple and Android devices. Today we are expanding that support further by including Apple TV and Android TV connectivity. Now you can stream your PC games directly to your TV and play on the big screen or watch any of the videos you may have captured on your PC using Radeon ReLive.

AMD FidelityFX
AMD FidelityFX is our open source image quality toolkit that is now available for developers to implement into their game. FidelityFX combines Contrast-Adaptive Sharpening (CAS) along with Luma Preserving Mapping (LPM) technologies to deliver great looking visuals while gaming. FidelityFX automatically collapses multiple effects into fewer shader passes to reduce overhead and free up your GPU for the visceral experience you demand.
