Just over 3 weeks ago we unleashed upon the world AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution , probably one of our most anticipated technologies ever. On June 22, we announced that FSR was available in 7 games on the day of launch, with 12 more games coming with FSR in the future, and we are delighted with the positive reception everyone has given FSR. Today, we have some more exciting news, with more games getting FSR support, the release of FSR for developers on GPUOpen, and FSR support in Unity and Unreal® Engine.
More Games Available with FSR
We know that many of you are loving our cutting-edge spatial upscaling technology and using it to boost your framerates while still enjoying high-quality, high-resolution experiences in games like Anno 1800, Godfall, and DOTA 2, and today we’re super excited to announce that even more games are getting FSR starting tomorrow, July 16.
First up on July 16, AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution updates are coming for Arcadegeddon, and Necromunda: Hired Gun -- then in the next two weeks, Edge Of Eternity and Resident Evil Village will be updated with FSR support. This will bring the total number of games available with support for FSR to 12, with more still to come! We can’t wait for you to check out how FSR supercharges your performance on a wide range of graphics cards, from integrated to ultra-enthusiast, both AMD and NVIDIA®.
FSR is Here for Developers
If you are a game developer, since our announcement on June 22, you’ve probably been counting the days until you can get access to FSR and integrate it into your game, and the time has now come! Starting today on GPUOpen, you can get access to the AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution source code for free under the open source MIT License, get FSR documentation, and download a new sample that shows off FSR and lets you view the different FSR modes and see how they impact image quality and performance.
With this release, you can also have a look behind the scenes as to how FSR works and see how easy it is to implement FSR into your game project to get a boost in performance. This boost can help you create next-generation gaming experiences that can support a wide range of hardware and deliver high framerates for as broad an audience of gamers as possible.
FSR Support in Leading Game Engines
When planning to add AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution to your game, the FSR code on GPUOpen allows for easy implementation, whether it be in a custom engine or in any available commercial game engine. However, what can make your life even easier is when a technology for developers is already integrated into popular and commonly used game engines. With this in mind, we’re very happy to announce that starting today FSR will be available in both Unity and Unreal Engine.
We’re Just Getting Started
The response to AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution has already been phenomenal from both gamers and developers. There will be, as of the next few weeks, 12 games that support FSR within the first month of its availability, and 40 leading game developers and publishers are on board to support FSR in released and upcoming games, including titles like Asterigos, Baldur’s Gate 3, Far Cry 6, Farming Simulator 22, Forspoken, Myst, Swordsman Remake, and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodhunt.
And we’re just getting started. We are continuing to work on getting support for FSR in more games and continuing to work on FSR for developers. With the source code now available to everyone, and the new support we have for FSR in both Unreal Engine and Unity, we're very much looking forward to seeing what game developers do with it and what amazing gaming experiences we’ll be able enjoy at higher performance thanks to FSR!
