As the title says, what is the oldest Radeon GPU you owned and gamed with? Were you happy with it?
For me, it was the Sapphie ATi Radeon HD 3870. I was very happy with it and was actually running CrossFireX. Kept me happy with all the games I played at the time like Guild Wars.
I actually own an ATi Radeon X1950 XTX but I bought that for collection purposes and never played with it. I hear that's a time when Nvidia had a tough time keeping up.
I fondly recall my ATI Radeon x1600 Pro and just how good the water looked in Morrowind because of it.
ATI Rage Pro
not a Radeon technically
oldest Radeon i think was my ATI Radeon 9600 Pro (around late 2003)
i just found my old Radeon x1650 pro in a box other day i know had a card before that also but don't remember which off top of my head
The most powerful GPU ever made. ATi Radeon 9800 XT 256MB.
The first Radeon branded product I bought brand new was the Radeon 9000 Pro. 64 MB, AGP. I did however own an 8*** and 7*** series used before that I think. Also had older ATI branded cards, but it was so long ago I don't remember. I went through a BUNCH of different stuff back then.
Still got it. A Radeon 3870 X2
That is in such amazing condition.
It went into the box when I purchased my 4870, and there it has remained. I changed GPUs alot more frequently in the mid 2000s.
Very nice, love those bright red cards.
We should take a poll and see how many of those various adapters we all have stuck in a drawer somewhere. I've resorted to just throwing them away because nobody needs them. Crossfire bridges, DVI-VGA adapters. About the only thing I haven't thrown away are the PCI-express power adapters. Those are next, or if anyone wants some adapters i can send you some
That component video adapter is just as useful as it ever was.
I think eskimo freezers get used more than those adapters ever have.
That'd be an XFX RADEON HD 6770, which was my first discrete AMD video card. It served me rather well for a few years. I mostly played Counter Strike: Source, Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Dead Space on it.
Was I happy with it? Sort of. Not really. It was only a minor upgrade over my older NVidia card and cost quite a bit more. I am however completely satisfied with my Asus HD 7850. Despite being an older card it has been absolutely fantastic.
