RX 7600 - Second Monitor Not Detected

Hey, all.

Been a while since I've posted here. I just upgraded from a Radeon R9 200 to a RX 7600, as well as updated one monitor in a 2-monitor setup. My setup:

Gigabyte B550i Aorus Pro AX Mini-ITX

GPU: Sapphire Radeon RX 7600

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600

Memory: 2 x 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4-3600 CL18

Monitor 1: Dell U2412M

Monitor 2: Sceptre E275-FPT165

KVM: IoGear GCS52DP

Both monitors support DisplayPort. The Sceptre replaced a Dell S2009W, which was DVI only. I am also using a 2-port KVM to connect the Dell U2412M to my 16" M1 MacBook Pro. The KVM works fine, as the Mac detects the 2412M. However with my desktop, the U2412M is NOT detected by the RX 7600. It does detect the Sceptre E175-FPT165 without any problems. I have also taken the KVM out of the equation and gone directly to the Dell U2412M via DisplayPort, which works successfully. I have also connected both monitors directly to my PC with the Sceptre using HDMI and the Dell U2412M over DisplayPort, which also works, so I know that the problem is not the monitor.

I can rule out the KVM being the problem because the Dell U2412M works properly with the MacBook Pro, so that leaves the video card, or the drivers to be the problem. Whatever drivers the Mac is using is working fine, so that leaves the drivers for the PC to be the problem. I do get the following errors in the logs in Windows when the KVM is connected to the RX 7600:

I've tried this with the latest 23.7.1 WHQL drivers as well as Adrenalin 23.10.01.41 with the same effect. All cables are new. Any ideas?

It seems that you are encountering an issue with your RX 7600 GPU where the second monitor (Dell U2412M) is not being detected when connected through a KVM. The RX 7600 does detect the other monitor (Sceptre E275-FPT165) without any problems. You've ruled out the KVM as the problem since it works fine with your MacBook Pro, and the Dell U2412M also works directly connected to your PC via DisplayPort.

The logs in Windows indicate an error with the device "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_7480&SUBSYS_E4481DA2&REV_CF\6&b4bd595&0&00000019," and it's related to the driver "amdwddmg" from "oem35.inf."

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check Device Manager: Open Device Manager and look for any yellow exclamation marks or devices with issues. If you see any related to the RX 7600 or the Dell U2412M, try updating the drivers or reinstalling them.

Clean GPU Driver Reinstallation: Completely uninstall the GPU drivers using a tool like Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) and then reinstall the latest drivers from AMD's official website.

BIOS Update: Check if there's a BIOS update available for your motherboard that might address compatibility issues with the RX 7600.

Check Monitor Firmware: Verify if there are any firmware updates available for the Dell U2412M monitor that might improve compatibility with the RX 7600.

Test Direct Connection: Test the Dell U2412M monitor directly connected to the RX 7600 without the KVM to see if it gets detected correctly.

Test Different KVM: If possible, try using a different KVM to see if the issue persists. Some KVM switches might have specific compatibility limitations.

Windows Update: Ensure that your Windows 11 is up to date with all the latest updates, as some updates might include bug fixes for hardware compatibility.

If the issue persists despite trying these steps, it's possible that there might be a compatibility issue between the RX 7600 and the Dell U2412M when connected through the KVM. You could also try reaching out to AMD support or Dell support for further assistance with this specific configuration.

This is resolved now. Apparently, the Dell U2412m monitor requires drivers that are available for Windows 10, but not Windows 11. Swapping out the monitor with a new one fixes the problem. So now I have a still very well functioning but 13 year old pair of monitors to hand down or recycle. Either way, this is all working now, and the RX 7600 is running smoothly.
