Radeon Software crashing - tied to qt5core.dll

Good day everyone,

I just got the XFX 6800 XT MERC the other day and I am noticing the Radeon Software doesn't stay running for very long. I have even reinstalled it. Here is the event log info for it:

Faulting application name: Radeonsoftware.exe, version: 10.1.2.1829, time stamp: 0x5fda8aa8

Description of Original Problem: AMD Radeon Software crashes upon launching it. See above for Windows log details.

Troubleshooting: I have tried rebooting and reinstalling. No luck. I know this card is fairly new, so maybe it's that.

The Radeon software worked for about 1-2 days, then stopped working yesterday morning.

Do I need to use DDU to remove the software and reinstall it? I feel like I shouldn't have to do that.

Also, I am having no issues USING the card - gaming. I mainly play World of Warcraft - haven't delved into many other games yet. I just built this machine a week ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was this close to building a machine with an Intel 10th gen and 3080 (if I could get one - I rolled the dice when Best Buy had both 6800 XT and 3080s pop up - I chose the AMD path).

Same here.  After uninstalling 19.9.2, rebooting, and installing 20.12.1 Radeonsoftware.exe failed to start and produced an error event in Windows event viewer.

Went back one version, installed 20.11.2 and started Radeon software from an icon on the start menu, and got the same result.  Radeonsoftware.exe fails to start and Windows event viewer logs an application error event "Faulting application name:  Radeonsoftware.exe, version: 10.1.2.1829".

I have no idea how or what caused it, but my Windows started to become EXTREMELY corrupted... We are talking a build that is less than two weeks old. I had to completely install Windows from scratch. Now, all is well running the latest version.

Hello there,

Were you having any BSOD issues? My build is pretty new too and this error is not the only issue.

Hi,

I opened a post last weekend (RX6700XT / Radeonsoftware.exe Application Errors)

I have similar issues. Radeon Software starts, but gets frequently Application Errors and the Icons in the Tray bar get replicated like 5 times. But No issues in Performance etc... The Application itself does not stop working, but it causes application errors and i also believe that this is affecting windows as well in some way. As I noticed a strange behavior on the Lock-Screen when that Event happens. I really do not know and do not care any more. I just hope AMD will fix this asap with new Radeon Software / Driver.

Another user recommended this in my Post:

"You're having the same issues as many with the latest drivers. Try DDU, and install drivers from versions 20 (for example, 20.11.3). If the problem disappears, please tell us. "

Identical issue.

The amount of crashes differ per game. Star Citizen crashes within a minute of launching into the multiplayer, while DiRT 5 and War Thunder run indefinitely.

I'm going to run the bare driver after cleaning the system with DDU and see if that helps.

Did DDU and clean install help?

Im experiencing the same issues

For me, it did not help. Also happens after fresh Windows Install. Howver my Games etc are not crashin. I only notice it in the Windows Events / Zuverlässigkeitsverlauf. Still experiencing same issue´ that Radeonsoftware.exe is crashing. (also tried the new optional driver available 21.5.1

Those stupid crashes started with 21.4.x Drivers. Mostly happens once, when i start my first game. Then it runs fine.

Already tried:

- uninstalling drivers, using DDU in Safe Mode, reinstalling 21.5.1

- made usual stability tests (occt for cpu and karhu for memory)

- using NO overlay software whatsoever

- disabling HW acceleration in my browser and discord

- disabling Freesync completely

- no OC, no other settings made, all driver settings are default

This is REALLY straining, and i'm starting to regret switching to AMD.

If such errors are not solved with a Hotfix Driver within a few days, i will switch back to nvidia, no matter the price.

I'm tired of having to deal with sh*t software!

Same Here.

Radeon Software does crashing since upgrade to 21.4.1.

After downgrade to 21.3.2 the problem vanishes.

Hello, i think i got a fix for these random black screen or display driver restarts. So i just done ^Error checking^ on my C drive. And yes it found errors! Then i let my system take care about it with a restart. And now i get no errors like that! 2 days without random display driver issue!

It amazed me that just simply corrupted files done this situation.

What i tried before that didnt work and why:

-I done a windows reset but without formatting the primary drive where windows is installed. (that just wrote over the corrupted files)

-I tried many fixes online but nothing helped. Like DDU and fresh radeon install ... the issue came back anyway.

-The problem started when i cloned my previous windows drive from a 500gb ssd to a new one and from that i noticed these kind of funny errors and crashes but i though maybe just from the fresh parts and outdated drivers cause i changed my motherboard too.

-So what i learned is every time i do a cloning i need to check for corrupted files and fix them. "RightClick" on "LocalDiskC" "Properties", go to "Tools" and then "Check"!

I don't say this can be the only problem! But if someone cannot fix this kind of errors then i prefer a new drive and a fresh windows install from scratch. like HARD FORMAT A DRIVE before installing a windows on that or check if the DRIVE is in good condition. Mine is a SSD from ADATA XPG GAMMIX PRO brand new and i managed to fill with corrupted files from the start! THIS FIXED MY PROBLEM! nearly hourly display driver restart for no reason. I'm so happy now that is working like a charm.

i get this when i start the computer. I have to unplug the monitor and launch radeon as fast as possible a few times.

So **bleep** annoying tbh, multiple errors in event viewer

I resolve it very simply.

Uninstall the radeon software normally, then you have to go to task manager (ctrl + alt + delete), go to the startup tab. You will find all the apps that start when the pc is turned on, among which there is RADEON SOFTWARE.EXE.
Right-click and click on view file path.
It will take you to the folder where the file is and delete it! Now reinstall amd software with auto detect amd and that's it. The problem is due to the previous uninstallation of the amd driver that leaves the executable file in memory at startup.

Probably is a bug of previous release
