Manually getting driver files

I am trying to dualboot Windows 10 and Arch Linux, having installed Arch Linux first. When running the Windows install media, I am told it doesn't have any compatible drivers. From what I've seen, I need to manually create a drive with the drivers on them. The problem with this is that I am using Arch Linux, so I can't use the Windows or Linux downloads to get the drivers. Is there any way I can manually install the EXTRACTED drivers?

Found this Tech site that gives step to step instructions on how to create a Dual Boot when you have Linux OS installed: https://itsfoss.com/install-windows-after-ubuntu-dual-boot/

How to Install Windows After Ubuntu Linux in Dual Boot

When it comes to dual boot, the general idea is that you have a system preinstalled with Windows and then you install Linux alongside Windows. On the boot, you select whether you want to use Windows or Linux.

How about the opposite situation? What if you have a system that has only Linux installed on it and you want to install Windows alongside Linux in dual boot mode?

In this tutorial, I’ll show you exactly how you can install Windows after Ubuntu Linux in dual boot.

Step 1: Create a bootable Windows USB

If you have access to a Windows system, you can follow the instructions on the Microsoft website to create a bootable Windows media.

If you only have a Linux system, creating a bootable Windows USB could be tricky. Thankfully, a handy open source tool called Ventoy helps a lot in this case.

I have written in detailed about creating bootable Windows 10 USB on Linux. Please refer to the guide for detailed instructions. I’ll mention the crucial parts here.

Plug in your USB with at least 8 GB of size and format it. Now, download the ISO of Microsoft Windows.

The above step continues with photos how how to use Linux Ventoy to create a Windows Installation Flash Drive.

It would help if you posted what hardware component Windows is asking for drivers for.

Chipset? Audio? Network? Graphics?

Most executable driver packages can be extracted but have to know which one.

Ryzen R7 5700X | B550 Gaming X | 2x16GB G.Skill 3600 | Radeon RX 7900XT
Ryzen R7 5700G | B550 Gaming X | 2x8GB G.Skill 4000 | Radeon Vega 8 IGP
Ryzen R5 5600 | B550 Gaming Edge | 4x8GB G.Skill 3600 | Radeon RX 6800XT

The error message I get is as follows: "No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK."

Most Windows 10 installation media should have basic drivers that will work with modern hardware.

What version of Windows 10 are you trying to install? Did you download the ISO from Microsoft?

List your system hardware specs.

Ryzen R5 5600 | B550 Gaming Edge | 4x8GB G.Skill 3600 | Radeon RX 6800XT

I am installing Windows 10 from Microsoft's official website, Windows 10 2023 Update | Version 22H2

My processor and gpu are

amd ryzen 5 2600

amd radeon rx 570xt

Win10 22H2 should install just fine with a Ryzen 5 2600 and RX 5700XT without extra drivers.

You did not list all system specs. You must have some hardware not mentioned that Windows does not recognize and is asking for drivers. Are you using a drive RAID array?

I don't see any hardware listed there that would prevent Win10 from installing.

The error may be related to how your drive is formatted and partitioned. What partition are you trying to install Win10 to? I suggest to read through the installation instructions that @elstaci provided to determine requirements for storage and dual-boot.

I can't even try to install windows to a partition, as the error appears right after clicking "install windows"

Then it is not detecting your storage or does not detect enough free space to install. Do you have BitLocker (storage encryption) enabled?
