Issues with AMD B450 chipset drivers.

I have problems with drivers for B450 chipset motherboard, version 2.09.28.509, to be exact its a Gigabyte b450m ds3h. Around mid-December after a Windows update my gpu drivers started crashing when gaming, but that issue was fixed by rebooting my pc. It would however reappear evry day when turning the pc on first time that day. Now it turns out that after unplugging an USB receiver for my controller from front panel USB port this issue disappeared completely. After checking my mobos manual i found out that this USB port is managed by the chipset. I believe that this is either an issue with the drivers themselves, or their compatibility with Windows (version 20h2, 19042.685). What should do to try and fix it? I already reinstalled windows so i doubt it's a problem with corrupted files or something like that. Also, i checked my ram and ssd with memtest and HD tune, no problems there.

Re: Issues with AMD B450 chipset drivers.

Another day has passed and i was able to run rocket league for 7 hours but when i turned anti aliasing from off to high fxaa and change fps cap from 62 to 245 it crashed in a moment like before. Could it be that gpu and USB send data to cpu though the same data lanes and those lanes get overloaded and that causes the gpu driver crash? It's really annoying that i cant fully use my pc.

Re: Issues with AMD B450 chipset drivers.

1. what HW?
2. what WinVersion?
3. what driver version?
4. is Win10 auto-driver-install active?

PC: R7 2700X @4.1GHz + RX 580 4G (1500MHz/2000MHz CL16) + 32G DDR4-3200CL14 + 144hz 1ms FS P + 75hz 1ms FS

Re: Issues with AMD B450 chipset drivers.

1. RYZEN 5 2600 (no OCs), Crucial Ballistix Sport Lt Gray 16GB 3000MHz, Gigabyte B450m DS3H, MSI Radeon RX 5600 XT GAMING X, 650W 80+ Bronze PSU, PNY 1TB SSD

2. Windows 10 ver. 20H2 build 19042.685

3. Chipset drivers version 2.09.28.509

4. If it's on by default then yeah, i guess it's on? I think after installing Windows i saw some amd stuff in Windows Update but i thought it's some files for Windows to be compatible with my parts. Could they be conflicting with drivers i installed?

4. OH MY GOD SWITCH IT OFF - ITS POISON!
well yeah - it most likely WILL duck up your Drivers for your system - as Windows is stupid...
its as bad as those "Driver booster" software
ALWAYS AVOID THOSE AND DISABLE WIN10 AUTO-DRIVER-INSTALL!!!

now do the following:

1. disable Win10 auto-driver-install & reboot
2. delete C:/AMD
3. run DDU to clean AMD driver
4. install latest chipset drivers from amd.com/en/support
5. install 20.12.1 gpu drivers from amd.com/en/support

ps i also have a Gigabyte Board // Gigabyte did a BAD JOB with their BIOS // flash latest BIOS (have in mind you maybe need to flash 1-3 bios before you can flash latest - its all said on GigaBytes support page for your MoBo)

Oh... Now that brought back some memories! I'll try that when i come home in the afternoon. Will DDU uninstall my chipset drivers or should i uninstall them through Control Panel?

Re: Issues with AMD B450 chipset drivers.

Sadly, got a crash to desktop in Rocket League after about 15 minutes of playing and an error message from AMD software about reporting the error. I haven't flashed the bios yet, though. I don't have time for this today, so i'll report tomorrow. If that doesnt work, i'll go to an older version of chipset drivers that are still up on gigabyte's website.

Re: Issues with AMD B450 chipset drivers.

I have updated the bios and also had an update for Windows. Sadly, only thing that changed was that the game crashed after one and a half hour instead of fifteen minutes. However, it didn't exactly crash really. It froze and i couldnt alt+tab or ctrl+alt+delete, but i was able to move the cursor, so the pc didn't fully freeze. In the event viewer i had a 4101 warning (the yellow triangle with an exclamation Mark) , the good old amdkmdag stopped responding. So in a way it got better, because on the newest gpu drivers they would crash in 15 minutes, but still the issue isn't fixed.

Re: Issues with AMD B450 chipset drivers.

mh,

1. go into bios and disable XMP/DOCP
2. run DDU in safe-mode - delete C:/AMD - clean old driver
3. install 20.12.1

test

maybe your RAM does some strange errors when you install driver...

Re: Issues with AMD B450 chipset drivers.

I haven't tried that out yet, but i realized something. When Rocket League is capped around 143 and 145 fps (refresh rate is 144Hz) nothing bad happens but when i raise the cap to 245 drivers timed out after 5 minutes. I decided to reset my monitor settings and turned on Freesync in AMD Software and then it worked on those settings for around 2 hours. I'll try ddu without xmp sometime later when i have free time.
