This issue has started a few days ago. I was playing a game and my screen fully froze all of a sudden.. I couldn't move my cursor and my keyboard was completely unresponsive. Whenever I try to install the AMD driver (essentially it is the AMD Radeon HD 7730/8730/7670/8670/8850/8870M Graphics Driver recommended by Dell for this laptop) it boots up into a black screen and my keyboard would be unresponsive like before. I would then have to go through the start-up repair settings and do a windows restore from a restore point in order for it to boot up normally again. The laptop is pretty old but it runs well.
Here's what I tried:
- Uninstalling Intel HD driver using DDU and reinstalling it
- Uninstalling amd driver using DDU and reinstalling it
- Installing the amd driver from dell's website and from amd's website
- Clean installing windows
- Installing the AMDdriver from the device manager (which also freezes my laptop)
I have went far and beyond and searched for answers but I cannot figure out why I can't install the driver.
