Does anyone have a solution for "We detected a driver timeout has occured on your system"
It freezes all the time when i'm playing any games like dota 2, nba2k and gta v. I already tried youtube and google tutorials, reinstalling Adrenalin software updated and old versions and flash stock vbios but still its not working. I also use DDU for uninstalling. My gpu is RX 580 Sapphire Nitro+ 8gb. Its also not overclocked.
Quick specs:
Ryzen 5 2600
RX 580 Sapphire Nitro+ 8gb
ROG Strix B450-F GAMING
T-force delta 2x8 3200mhz
WD green ssd
Seasonic 80 plus bronze 620 watts
Trojan has been detected.
I suggest an urgent change of driver, more specific for 20.8.3. AMD wants to burn your video card so you can buy another one.
20.8.3 the last decent driver this company has created.
ok i'll try this one. i'll just update. thank you so much!
This is a constant problem for a lot of us. No fix yet...
Hey, did it work?
nope. sold the card and got a 3090.
i just reinstalled my os and then install the adrenalin 20.8.3 version. so far so good no issue
I have the same problem "DRIVER TIMEOUT" and when I checked in the event viewer it says "ATIKMDAG.sys stopped working".
I tried to follow AMDs trouble shooting guide: How to Troubleshoot Timeout Detection and Recovery Errors
But no success so far, perhaps others will be more successful?
It happens mostly in Assassins Creed Valhalla, but sometimes while just doing other stuff like browsing with Firefox, watching videos etc.
I am using Radeon s/w 21.5.2 but it also happens with drivers back to 21.2.3
It is frustrating to say the least!
My rig and all my temperatures are overall very low (and quiet):

Hey there,
I managed to install version 20.9.2 and it seems to be working without bugs and stable.
Maybe you could try that or 20.8.3 to see if it works for you
Best regards,
I'm gonna try jjgador123 "fix" and downgrade to version 20.8.3 and see how it goes.
Did this once, didn't work. But next time I installed clean OS, i unplugged the lan cable,so windows didn't get the driver online. (Each time it was always labeled as Radeon card, this time it was just basic microsoft driver in Device Manager). Then installed adrenaline 20.8.3. It's been good for about a week now.
Hey, I'm glad it worked for you. I believe 20.9.2 works fine aswell.
How come that here always some users suggests to install an old driver which btw. is not optimized for latest games/ s/w?
This is not a solution, merely a workaround of the real problem, which AMD does not think it is necessary to focus on.
Oh, I'm waiting so much to get my hands on a nVidia card.
I'm done with AMD
