AMD RX6600M and overlay

Hi

Have an HP Omen 16 which has Radeon iGPU and an RX6600M.

Got latest drivers and adrenalin software but Overlay function isn't available. I have the "tracking" option in the usual place and it should be right next to it. But it's not. And Alt+R doesn't do anything.

Is this because the screen is currently running on the iGPU (no reason why that should matter) or because this function doesn't work on mobile GPUs?

Or is there a missing setting?

Thanks

It seems you're experiencing an issue with the Overlay function on your HP Omen 16 laptop, which has both a Radeon iGPU and an RX6600M GPU. You've mentioned that you have the latest drivers and Adrenalin software, but the Overlay function is not available, and Alt+R doesn't work.

There could be a few potential reasons for this situation:

  • Graphics Configuration: Make sure your RX6600M GPU is set as the primary graphics device. Some laptops with switchable graphics might default to the integrated GPU for certain applications, which could affect the overlay functionality.
  • Driver Compatibility: Sometimes, certain driver versions may not work well with specific features. While you have the latest drivers, it might be worth trying an earlier version to see if the issue persists.
  • Software Conflicts: Sometimes, other software running in the background could interfere with the overlay feature. Try temporarily disabling any background applications, especially those that might have an overlay or screen capture features of their own.
  • Hardware Limitations: While the RX6600M should support the overlay function, it's possible that there could be hardware limitations or conflicts causing the issue. Check the GPU manufacturer's website or forums for any specific information regarding this feature on mobile GPUs.
  • Adrenalin Software Settings: Go through the Adrenalin software settings carefully to ensure that the Overlay feature is enabled and properly configured. It's also a good idea to check for any specific settings related to mobile GPUs.
  • Driver Reinstallation: Consider fully uninstalling your current graphics drivers and then installing the latest version again. Sometimes, a clean installation can resolve compatibility issues.

Remember that technology can be complex, and issues like these might have various causes. Troubleshooting might require trying a combination of solutions to find what works in your specific situation.

Thanks a lot for the reply. Will check them out...and perhaps start with a reinstall.

One question:

Adrenalin Software Settings: Go through the Adrenalin software settings carefully to ensure that the Overlay feature is enabled and properly configured. It's also a good idea to check for any specific settings related to mobile GPUs.

Where is it?

Thanks again.

Tried a fresh install, an older set of drivers, closed down all other programs, and still the place where the overlay option can be seen on the Adrenaline software is still absent.

It just has options for Tracking. No overlay.

And, I can't find anything in settings that enable or disable it.

I can see from a youtube clip that the option is in Settings-Preferences, where the first option is "In-Game Overlay".

I don't have that. My first option is "Web Browser", which is usually the second option in Preferences.

Weird?
