Hello,
I own an HP Omen 15 laptop that has AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor with AMD Radeon Software installed (standard Windows driver updated through Windows Updates only).
I have lately noticed that AMD Radeon Software randomly consumes very high power (red) as seen in Task Manager. What's strange is that the CPU and GPU usage is negligible or very low, but the laptop fans will run at a moderately high speed, and the temperature of the CPU rises to 85 degrees celsius. When I check the Task Manager, it shows that the AMD Radeon Software app is consuming very high power but CPU and GPU utilization is very low.
This problem occurs randomly, and not too often. Very rarely.
When I reset the AMD Radeon Software (factory reset), everything returns back to normal again.
Why is this problem happening and how do I fix it?
HP customer care told me not to update the drivers from the AMD website, but only from the HP website or through Windows Updates. Will it be safe to download or update the drivers directly from AMD website?
