18.8.1 doesn't work with my RX 590 ("can't detect")

I just upgraded from my old R9 290 to have more frames in Monster Hunter World. I got around 50-60 FPS on average with the 18.8.1. driver that is optimized for MHW.

Now I get the same FPS on average with the much more expensive RX 590 when using the newest driver, which just isn't right in my book.

When I try to test it with the 18.8.1 driver, I either get this error OR (third-party download links) I can install it but my PC doesn't detect the driver anyway.

Either someone tells me what the fix is for this or I promise this is my last AMD card. I'm just tired of this.

And yes, I disabled the on-board GPU, my GPU is installed properly, the 18.8.1 driver is supposed to bec ompatible with the RX 500 series and my GPU is literally recommended for the game, same as this driver.

I just upgraded my R9 290X to a RX 580 OC no issues great card.....why are you using/(better question), why aren't you using current drivers?

Because 18.8.1 is literally the only one optimized for Monster Hunter World, as far as I know, and I get the same framerate using it with my old R9 290 as I get now with my new 590 using a new driver.

I'm pretty sure I'd get a lot more FPS if I could use the driver actually optimized for the game. Otherwise I paid more money and have a stronger GPU but for the same performance (if not even worse).

Happy New Year 2020 to Everyone!!!

It is normal to cannot install 18.8.1 driver. According to AMD, the Launch Date for your card is 11/15/2018 https://www.amd.com/en/products/graphics/radeon-rx-590 and the first driver that supports it is The Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.11.1 for RX 590 https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-18-11-1-rx590

I would suggest you to install 19.12.1 till the real and stable Adrenalin 2020 comes out (I and many others waiting for this).

Do you have more FPS with 19.12.1 than with Adrenalin?

19.12.3 is the latest driver

only until 20.1.x surfaces etc

19.12.3 and 19.12.2, the so far Adrenaline 2020 versions, are tooooo problematic. If you look at forums almost everyone went back to latest Adrenaline 2019 19.12.1
