1) I assume that each "SIMD core" (ten of them in the R700?) consist 16 scalar processors? 64-bit superscalar processors? Are there seperate FP and integer units in there processors?
2) Where else is (FP and/or integer) processing performed besides the "SIMD cores"?

I am sure an AMD/ATI engineer should answer you more correctly and deeply, but I can recommend you this 2 reviews about RV770

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2008/09/02/ati-radeon-4850-4870-architecture-review/1
Both are well explained and come from serious sites, nevertheless always a person from support should be a better help, but in the meantime you can get a good reading.

The article that udeepta posted is alo very nice and complete, it also covers certain issues deeper, like render back ends, than the other articles.
Btw, the article comes with AMD slides -- this is straight from the horse’s mouth. AMD’s Scott Hartog, Dave Bauman and others helped Rage3d with this article, say the ack at the end
