Hi Per,

Currently we do not support this feature as far as i know. I went ahead and made a feature request for you and sent it to the Developers

Hello,

I am surprised that hear this. When I was checking out the engine

specifications for 3dsmax it was mentioned as a feature under the materials

section on this webpage:

https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/radeon-prorender-autodesk3dsmax

*"Supports X-Rite’s Appearance Exchange Format (AxF™). Learn more at

Xrite.com."

I am confused now

Cheers

Per

Hi Per

Yea was kinda confused my self. But i did some digging regarding this for you

You can import these files using the 3ds Max import.

Hi

I have tried to import the axf like you recommended.

Either Max crashes or the file read takes really long.

Also....were can it be found after import? Does it attach itself to a

selected object?

Can find it anywhere in the material library or slate editor.

Thanks,

Per

Hi Per,

Yes, I noticed this on my side as well. I Believe its not working at all to be honest.  I will go ahead and report this to developers.

Hey, (what is your name actually?)

Had the same feeling

Glad this gets reported. We are heavily invested in AXF as we own a TAC7

scan device ( https://www.materialcapture.com/ ).

We were opting to go with Vray for 3dsmax for rendering but the plugin

developed by Xrite only supports CPU rendering, which is a shame.

According to their dev team recompiling the plugin to work on Vray GPU

would be very difficult.

I also had contact with Redshift render. They are interested in developing

an AXF material reader but only if demand is high enough.

So, you would have a first in the industry when you would support AXF on

the GPU.

I would be happy to be testing this feature (although I am an Nvidia user,

shame on me).

Kind regards and hope to hear from you soon,

Per
