This is a user-to-user forum.
If you are having a problem with your graphics card or a particular game...Please report it to AMD. Keep in mind that the more reports sent to the Catalyst engineers, the more attention paid. This is the only way things get fixed. Note that all issues must be reproducible (this is why specific information is required), and submitting a "Issue Report" is not a invitation to a dialog with AMD. Don't expect a reply. Just report it and encourage others to do the same.
Every driver download has this statement:
AMD Issue Reporting Form
doh really, we hadnt thought of reporting a fault with and AMD card to AMD, silly us....
Yes it is a user forum but its populated with tech engineers like amdmatt who should really be doing something other than, nothing, perhaps he's on a sabbatical.
Who knows what you thought of? All we know is what you share in your post. Obviously, not many people have your issue...(or you probably would be overwhelmed with responses) so I know where my money would go as to the real problem.
Matt, and the others are forum moderators. Get it? They are here mainly to keep the idiots off the airways. Where did you read they are AMD engineers? This is their job, and like most people with jobs, it's not 24/7.
So good luck with your problem. Have a nice day.
Yes H264 is not working. Have not tried 16.9.1 driver yet.
However h.265 definetly works. On my HTPC if I turn off DXVA for h.265 I can hardly get a picture, with DXVA turned on I can watch UHD from ASTRA 2E perfectly.
What are you using to view HEVC content ?
I use DVBviewer and that works (with LAV filter)
all my h265 HEVC stuff plays fine, its only H264 stuff that has the problem, most of that plays ok if I just leave it but if I skip along it gets horribly corrupted.
Edit, as I wasnt getting any corruption with h265 I didnt actually check to see if this was working, i'll check this tonight, my CPU is beefy so it might be doing all the H265 on that.
If both arent working then that's even worse, frankly amazed AMD are getting away with this.
Crimson driver 16.9.1 will burn out my GPU.
Check this out.
RX480 Polaris: After installing the 16.9.1 driver the Crimson GUI does not load.
This problem was supposedly fixed in 16.8.1
How come this got messed up again. Anyone else with the same issue?
Hi, i what capacity exactly did you get this response from AMD, i've seen nothing on here or on any other websites, did you call them, did someone email you?, do you have the correspondence in full you can paste in here, I'm very close to returning my card, some evidence of an official response from AMD would be useful.
Hi, I got a message from AMD as per my blog.
btw I fixed the OpenGL error which caused me problems.
I uninstalled drivers using AMDcleanup utility but that did not help.
Then I also tried DDU and re-installed. That now seems to have stoppen the openGL error. That was really annoying as the GPU was sitting at 80C with not much happening, now I have asked the temp to be controlled at 65C all is well.
mclingo, did you not click on his links in his post? his links takes you to his blog where he has the correspondence posted.
