Hello!
I am building a new system with two RX 470 cards. I will be installing xubuntu
OS on the machine, and running OpenCL kernels. Is there anything I need to know
about which driver to install on this system? Should I expect the same performance
as a Windows 7 system ?
Thanks!
Solved! Go to Solution.
Currently, RX 4xx devices are supported by following driver on Ubuntu only.
AMDGPU-PRO Driver for Linux® – Release Notes
Should I expect the same performance as a Windows 7 system ?
There is no known performance issue/limitation for this driver compared to its Windows counter part. So, you can expect the similar performance. If you notice any significant difference, please report to us.

Thanks, Dipak. When is OpenCL 2.0 support expected for this driver ?
Can't say right now about the OpenCL 2.0 support. However, as I've come to know, the team is considering to include few key features from OpenCL 2.0 on Linux.
Regards,
OK, thanks! Looking forward to 2.0 support!
So, I have xubuntu 16.04.4, and I installed the AMDGPU-PRO driver, but it doesn't look like the cards ( i have two 470s) were detected. clinfo just displays the CPU. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?
Sadly, had to abandon xubuntu in favour of win 10. Everything just works on windows.
Too bad the experience on Linux was so miserable.
