The title pretty much explains it all. I've tried to install codeXL multiple times and each time results in a BSOD, I have VS12 and VS13 installed.
Are there any known issues of this already?
I have not received any previous reports about this issue.
Can you please shared the following details:
Which version of CodeXL are you installing?
Do you have AMD CodeAnalyst installed on your station?
What CPU/APU do you have?
Can you upload the dump file created during the BSOD?
One suggestion is to uninstall CodeAnalyst and reboot before attempting to install CodeXL.
I'm having the same problem.
I'm using Windows 8.1
I'm installing the latest version (AMD_CodeXL_Win_1.2.3897.exe)
I don't have CodeAnalyst installed.
I have an FX-8350 on a 990FX mainboard.
I tried reinstalling 3 times but all ended with BSOD (Kmode exception not handled - pcore.sys)
My issue is giving me the same bspd code, I have a 8150 on the 990FX
chipset. I'm unable to give my dump right now
Hi mustafakorkmaz and joshhua5,
Do you have CodeAnalyst or a previous version of CodeXL (1.0 or 1.1) already installed?
No it's a rather new windows install
I'm trying to reproduce it, but with no avail (for now).
So lets summarize the details we have:
Is this about it? Am I missing anything?
P.S
If you may upload a dump (mini dump is good enough) it will be a great help.
Thanks.
64 bit and after the reboot, there's two broken icons on the desktop from
the installation.
I'll get the dump tomorrow
Hi ekatz,
Have you looked at the dumpfile I uploaded? I have another one here if you couldn't download that one: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/15437463/110813-17484-01.dmp
My OS is Windows 8.1 64 bit. I don't have CodeXL or CodeAnalyst installed. And BSOD happens right after the "Installing new services" message of the installer.

Hi joshhua5,
It seems that the dump that you have provided doesn't point to pcore, and doesn't even have pcore.sys loaded in the modules list.
In fact it is a dump from Octrober the 16th. Maybe it is not the right one?!

the correct dump
Hi mustafakorkmaz,
The dump you have provided is good. I am analyzing it.
Thank you very much for the help!
New version (1.3) is working without a problem for me.
I get the same BSOD and exception with 1.3
Is there already a fix for this?
I am experiencing the same problem.
Here is my story:
When I installed CodeXL first, I had a Nvidia graphics card installed. CodeXL installation was successful and also the extension showed up in Visual Studio 2012.
Then, I changed my graphics card to an AMD R9 270X.
Then, I triggered a reinstallation of CodeXL ("Repair"-option) because the Norton heuristics scanner removed c:\windows\system32\cpuloadservice.exe because it thought the .exe was hazardous. So, I disabled Norton.
Since then, whenever I try to install CodeXL, i get a BSOD with the following message:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000001e (0xffffffffc0000096, 0xfffff800049a436c, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 021514-19718-01.
Here is the minidump:

Is this a known problem?
What could I do? Any advice?
I have the same problem on a Win2012 machine, using the latest CodeXL; however, it occurs only when Hyper-V is enabled (Kmode exception not handled - pcore.sys).
