To people who have instant Black Screen or Freeze on installing ANY AMD driver

We would like to thank alpere for starting this discussion and the members that have provided their valuable input.

This discussion was created to bring all users with black screen issues into a common thread so that they could share details of their system, troubleshooting steps and results.

Upon reviewing the thread, we find users have reported 3 distinct black screen issues:

      1. Black screen at Windows login
      2. Black screen while gaming
      3. Black screen/hang during the installation of the AMD graphics driver

      For users experiencing issue #1:

From reviewing the feedback, this appears to be a Windows 10 issue. For suggestions on how to troubleshoot Windows 10 black screen issues, please refer to the following Microsoft pages:

      For users experiencing issue #2:

The KB article: Fixes for Game Crashes, Hangs, and Performance Issues provides many useful suggestions to resolve game related issues.

You may also use the forum search feature to see if there are ongoing discussions on your specific issue.

If you are still unable to find a solution to your issue, please create a new discussion following these guidelines:

      • Provide a meaningful title: “Screen goes black playing <Game> with <driver version>”
      • Provide the Information Required

      For users experiencing issue #3:

The feedback indicates that some users have resolved the issue by ‘baking’ the card while others report that the system can only be recovered using the Microsoft Basic Display Drivers (MBDD). This appears to be a hardware failure. In such a case, you may consider exploring your warranty options through your system builder/graphics card manufacturer.

Since we are requesting users to open new discussions for black screen gaming issues, we will be locking this thread.

----------------------------------------------------------- THIS DISCUSSION IS NOW LOCKED -----------------------------------------------------------

This topic is not a question and dedicated for people who is suffering from black screen issue with symptoms provided at bottom of post.

                SOLVED USERS:

Attention: At least 8 people below fixed their issues with baking method, beware that it is temporarily solution and this process can high likely damage multiple components on your gpu. Still, if your card is able to repaired by baking then that means it has solder distortions, and can possibly repaired with re-soldering application. Be know that special equipment needs for this process as well as skilled technicans.
