One area I overlooked in a "perfect" set-up for on-line PC games was my internet throughput.....ie Ping. There were much better/faster results using my own choice of DNS severs than the ones furnished (default) by my ISP. One easy way to find out is use the http://www.pcworld.com/product/1140208/dns-benchmark-dnsbench-.htmlGRC's | DNS Nameserver Performance Benchmark . Takes 2 minutes. This provides the addresses of the fastest most stable DNS servers for your (general) location. Low ping=faster response. See the top 2 fastest, enter them in your router ("use these dns address"). To get the absolute fastest server near where you live, run the additional localized scan.It takes about 15-20 minutes for this test.
If you don't use a router then change the DNS in 'Network and Sharing'
