Does the R9 280X support VGA (DVI-I) and work with XP?

I'm considering buying a XFX R9 280X. I'm using a VGA monitor, and I triple boot, XP Pro (32 bit), XP Pro X64 (64 bit) and Windows 7 Pro (64 bit).

Going through the AMD drivers and support page, if I select R9 2XX series, for Windows XP and XP X64, driver version 14.4 is shown and for Windows 7 (64 bit) version 15.7 is shown. For R9 3XX series, only Windows 7 and later are shown for Windows drivers, so I assume that the XP driver will not work with 300 series cards.

I just wanted to make sure that the XP drivers would work with a XFX R9 280X, since it is a 2XX series video card, and that the 280X DVI-I would work with a VGA monitor using a standard DVI-I to VGA adapter dongle.

A follow up on this. I sent an inquiry to XFX support, and now there is another issue. Apparently the maximum resolution that can go out over the DVI-I to VGA adapter is 1920 x 1080, but my CRT monitor can run up to 2048 x 1536, although the max I would normally use is 1920 x 1440 (4 x 3 aspect ratio). The main issue is that I run most games at 1600 x 1200 at 85hz, so the 1080 limit would be a problem.
