The first PC I built myself was based on the AMD K6 (with a SoundBlaster32, natch!)
I love to support the "strong underdog"; AMD may not be "leader" in CPUs (Intel) or GPUs (nVidia, due to over-pricing high-demand products which sold anyway, building up their coffers; and highly competitive "I've-got-the-most-expensive-GPU!" idiots who know nothing about "bang-for-yer-buck"), but AMD have always built QUALITY PRODUCT and have ALWAYS been HONEST in their communications to end consumers. Integrity is worth much more...
AMD is TRUSTWORTHY; that's why I back them.
Their promotion of "open source" and "community code" to enhance the technology for EVERYONE (vs "black box"-type development) shows their COMMITMENT to the wider community, even if that includes "the opposition". (Surely, some of - or a lot of! - new games graphics coding, even attributable to nVidia tech, is "based on" or "inspired by" AMD shared code -- I bet they (nV) think if they modify it enough, it'll "hold up in court" that it's NOT "copyright infringement", or going against Open type licenses... One of these days . . . . .
