I completed this mod late last year. I typically do scratch build mods, so building in a pre-existing case, and one with glass on both sides no less, really took me out of my comfort zone. I actually found it to be much more difficult than the elaborate mods I have built in the past. But it turned out pretty great and I learned some glass etching skills along the way.
The below point of interest was built using a metal electrical box, and the components of a radiation detector.
Behind the white piece, I installed a a red flickering LED.
The yellow nuclear graphic was painted using a stencil that I custom made myself.
The image below is a picture of the actual core from a nuclear reactor.
I printed the image on heavyweight matte paper, so that the lights would not reflect on the image.
Only the edges of the front gill were painted yellow, which gives it a really nice industrial look.
This mod won 3rd place in the PDXLAN Case Mod Contest in the Fall '22 event.
Hope you like it!
