Ryzen 5 5500 Extremely low voltage

Hi guys, i recently acquired this cost benefit option processor from AMD, but i'm facing some problems with weird freezes on my computer regardless of what I'm doing.

Sometimes my computer freezes when still initializating the O.S, and i'm investigating the cause.

I noticed that in the AIDA 64 software , the following happens with the CPU core voltage:

Is it normal? if not what could be causing it? what should i do?

i understand lower voltages like 0.4~0.6V while doing nothing but 0.048V never seen this before.

Same metric in CPU-Z and Gigabyte SIV.

Specs:

Ryzen 5 5500
RTX 4060 Eagle Gigabyte
x2 memory jazer 16GB 2666mhz
ssd m.2 nvme Kingspec 1tb
MOBO B450m k(rev 1.0) Gigabyte.
Power Supply Duex 500w 80 plus bronze PFC active.
6 fan.BIOS version : F1

OS: Windows 10 Home

Oh I see... My Vcore voltage there is 0.120. Maybe you could return this unit if you are still in time

Maybe ask aida what sensor their pulling that info from, and compare it with hwinfo64?

same happens in CPU-Z and Gigabyte SIV, as mentioned above.

The CPU core voltage is dropping to 0.048V, which is much lower than the normal range of 0.4V to 0.6V. This could be due to a problem with the motherboard, BIOS, or power supply.

Here are a few things you can try to fix the problem:

  1. Update your BIOS to the latest version.
  2. This may fix a bug that is causing the CPU core voltage to drop too low.
  3. Make sure that your power supply is providing enough power to your computer.
  4. If your power supply is not powerful enough, it may not be able to provide enough power to the CPU, which could cause the voltage to drop.
  5. Try using a different power supply.
  6. If you have another power supply that you can use, try swapping it out with your current power supply to see if that fixes the problem.
  7. Contact AMD for support.
  8. If you have tried all of the above and you are still having problems, then you may need to contact AMD for support.
  9. They may be able to offer you a replacement processor or motherboard.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind:

  • The Ryzen 5 5500 is a budget-friendly processor, so it is not surprising that it may have some problems.
  • Overclocking can also cause voltage instability, so if you have overclocked your processor, you may want to try resetting it to its stock settings.
  • If you are not comfortable troubleshooting computer problems yourself, then you may want to take your computer to a computer repair shop.

I hope this helps!

Technical problems?

I Just updated BIOS , still dropping, there is no other software solution i can test? When first starting the system i had some 'AMD fTPM' issues who stops me to boot windows, maybe it has some to do with it.

Another datail: these drops disappear if i'm actually running something that requires CPU, if it was power supply problem, shouldnt it happen while playing games?

Hi my 5500 has the same minimum voltage 0.025V and no freezing problems. I must say that I did undervolt and disable performance boost as well to solve a temperature issue and everything looks fine to me. Not sure what could be the issue with your setup. Good luck.

i think the 0.025 metric there is preset, mine reach these values on CPU Core Voltage: 0.060

thats a pretty useful information, since i only get these high lows with cpu below 2% usage, maybe its expected in idle.

freezes solved with command sfc /scannow on cmd and bios update.

KathleenDavis, please open a new thread and post a screenshot of Ryzen Master. Thanks, John.
