Voltage limits for CPU and RAM

Hi.

Can anyone say why do amd limited VDD 1.65V on motherboards?

And I have 2 other questions. I think Gigabyte read amd recomendations for voltages. So, why is VDDIO limit 1.4 V for ryzen 7000 and 1.45 V for ryzen 9000?

So, read official answer from amd.

Response and Service Request History:

I understand that you have concern about AMD limits VDD to 1.65V for stability and longevity, especially in DDR memory.
However, why is the VDDIO limit 1.4V for Ryzen 7000 and 1.45V for Ryzen 9000.

I would suggest you to please use the system to set the BIOS to default settings and make sure its a latest BIOS.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or need assistance.

Response and Service Request History:

We do not provide support for overclocking and over volting. We always recommend setting BIOS to default settings.

All the minimum & Maximum values in the BIOS are defined by AMD AGESA, so yes the limitation could be from the AGESA which is provided to the motherboard vendors around which they build their BIOS.

Well, several vendors say that 1.45/1.5v is the max safe without any cooling for the ram so I assume if you want more than 1.65v then you are into more serious Overclocking. Are you?

VDDIO and VSoC were actually limited to 1.3v on several boards on the "burning chips drama of 2022" but they used to have a much higher limit than 1.4 at Ryzen 7000 launch. Not sure for 9000.

My 7950X was doing 1.47v on AUTO till I undervolted it to 1.18v

Both vSoC and VDDIO.

Yes, I use watercooling for ram.

I can't set VDDIO above 1.4 V on my b650e aorus master and I know man who can't set above 1.45 V on the same motherboard.
