Hi there!
I experienced something really strange on my quite new 3900x setup:
Only enabling SMT causes significantly higher CPU temperatures (The 3900x is running @ 4.2GHZ on all cores).
I noticed that running Folding@home. With SMT enabled - of course all cores are nearly 100% utilized - I end up with ~ 86°C Coretemp.
Running the exact same thing with SMT disabled, it's only 70°C.
Somehow this doesn't make any sense to me. For sure SMT might add some load to the cores, but THAT much? For a feature which honestly does not have much benefit in most of the cases?
What do you think?
