Ryzen 7 PRO 2700U Windows update issue

Hi All,

I am trying to update my OS to Windows 11 from Windows 10 Pro on my HP Elitebook 755 G5. When I do an update check the only system requirement that fails is the processor. On the Windows 11 supported processors list is the Ryzen 7 PRO 2700, and Ryzen 7 PRO 2700X, but not the U. Has anyone else encountered this and found a way around it? The computer is only a couple years old and was very expensive so i'm surprised to be running into something like this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes it is true that your AMD Mobile Ryzen 7 2700U is not supported by Windows 11 because it is a ZEN Processor.

Generally, the APUs, in the past, was one generation behind the regular processors.

Also at CPU World your 2700U is designated a "ZEN" processor. You need a "ZEN+ " or newer processor to qualify for Windows 11 support: https://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Zen/AMD-Ryzen%207%20PRO%20Mobile%202700U.html

While the Ryzen 7 2700 Regular processor is a "Zen+" processor which does qualify for Windows 11:

Now you can probably install Windows 11 using some Registry hack that you can google online but according to Microsoft any unsupported Windows 11 PCs will not be supported with Windows Updates.

Plus you need to see if your laptop hardware has Windows 11 drivers or Windows 10 drivers can be used in Windows 11.

NOTE: "ZEN" Generation processors doesn't have the security features that it needs to run Windows 11 which is why it is excluded.
