Ryzen 5 3400g Memory speed only reaching 2733Mhz

I have a Ryzen 5 3400g CPU with G.Skill DD4 Trident Z NEO 3600 memory on an MSI x570 Pro Carbon Gaming motherboard updated to the latest BIOS but I can only get my memory to reach 2733 Mhz with pretty bad timings of 18-18-18-18-38.  This seems absolutely ridiculous as I should easily be able to reach higher memory speeds with this hardware.  I understand the 3400g is only listed for 2933 Mhz but I can't even reach these speeds.  Why?

So thanks for the suggestion of first loading the XMP profile and then reducing the memory clock down to 3200.  This did work for me and I am now running at 3200 Mhz memory clock stable.  For the Ryzen 5 3400g my process was: 1) Load the XMP Profile for 3600 Mhz in BIOS. 2) Manually change the DRAM speed to 3200 Mhz. 3) Set timings to 16-18-18-18-36. 4) Set DRAM Voltage to 1.2 Volts.

Again I am using the MSI x570 Carbon Pro Gaming motherboard, G.Skill Trident Z NEO 3600 32GB (2x16GB) memory kit, and AMD Ryzen 5 3400g CPU.

I may play around with timings even more and see if I can get some tighter timings by increasing the DRAM voltage, but for now I am satisfied with 3200 Mhz at 16-18-18-18-36.  Thanks again!

should do at least 3200

did you load XMP profile from bios? not the auto setting

first load XMP profile to load up 3600MHz, then if it not works, reduce mem clock manualltu till you get a post screen

I have loaded the XMP profile in the BIOS.  When I load the profile at its default 3600 MHz the system will restart about 5 times before it stabilizes back at 2133 Mhz,  I can try loading 3600 Mhz and reducing to 3200 Mhz as you say, but I have also tried various options in MSI's "Try It" which includes an array of memory speeds and timings.  I'm sure I've tried 3200 Mhz in this scenario.  I've also tried complete manual overclocking using the DRAM Calculator for Ryzen application which provides me every manual setting to input.  Every OC setting I've attempted besides 2733 Mhz at 18-18-18-18-38 simply defaults back to the original 2133 Mhz setting.  But let me try to load 3600 Mhz as you suggested and manually bring it down to 3200 Mhz.

Obviously BIOS firmware could be the issue and QVL for the memory, but I am not attempting some ridiculous 4600-5000 Mhz OC here.  3200-3600 Mhz is pretty standard and I would assume both CPU and Motherboard can handle these memory speeds easily among most major companies and brand assortments.  MSI and G.Skill and AMD are all major players and should work.

Nice it helped your problem, APU's generally have problems over 3200MHz, up next you may try 3333-3400-3466 till it won't work and then do a RAM test for errors to see if it's stable
