Computer Setup:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2400G with the Vega 11 native graphics
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-AB350M-Gaming 3 with updated BIOS to F22, this supports the 2400G
HD: Sandisk SSD PLus 240GB
RAM: Ballistix Sport LT 8GB kit (4gbx2), (BLS2K4G4D240FSB)
Here is my dilemma, I was never able to get a video output from this setup. I was, however, able to get a video output when installing my old 550 ti, that was part of the system that I was replacing with this set of hardware. I was able to do a fresh install of Windows 10 and get a desktop to boot with the graphics card added. I messed with the BIOS settings a little bit. I tried to force IGD, I used both auto and allocated video ram settings. I tried changing the RAM positions using 1 or two sticks in every combination possible. I tried using both the DVI and the HDMI ports on the motherboard, all without video output.
In retrospect, I did not find compatibility for this ram on the Gigabyte website. In the meantime, I did order a set of ram that matched exactly to the compatibility list. I will see if that makes a difference. It's just kind of strange that you can run the system with a graphics card but can't view anything without one installed. Does anyone have any insight on this issue?
Asus Strix B350, bios 4011 dated 4/19/18
AMD 2400G
Corsair Vengence LPX DDR 4 3000
Western Digital Black NVME 250GB
Western Digital Blue 1 TB SATA 6GB
Asus VP247QG monitor
I'm having the same issue, had to install a PCI-Express video card to get system up, without video card it told me monitor out of range. I have everything else up and running, installed both Asus and AMD drivers, it didn't help video,
guys - its your monitor
R5 2400G forces HDMI2.0 - but your screen only supports 1.4
my LG W2442PE has black screen - but when i use my AOC G2460PF it works fine
I tried both HDMI and Display port, same thing.
...
i do further testing now
can you try a different screen?
I hooked it up to my TV and was able to get the latest Radeon Adrenaline driver installed. I am now able to get my Asus VP247QG monitor to display for Windows only, I get no display to the Windows logon screen, no display at POST. Thanks for your help. Any idea why I have no display at POST?
for me it was the "cheap" cable - now with a good HDMI Cable it works fine
Using cable that came with monitor, both HDMI and Display port.
buy a good one - test it // i used the cable came with my AOC - did work on AOC but didnt work on LG
now with better cable it works on LG too
same issue, AMD Ryzen 5 2400g with ASUS Rog Strix x470-f gaming
are you sure about the cable, the specifications says : supports HDMI 1.4b max?
as i said - i had this issue with my LG screen - but same cable worked with AOC
bought a good cable - now working fine on LG ,)
I tried a variety of cables which varied in quality. I literally tried 4-5 cables with the Same result. No display at post. It was only after post and windows started up that the screen would fire up with the native Ryzen graphics. I agree with one of the other responders that its my older TV that I use as a monitor. I can not confirm this because I don’t have another regular computer screen to try. But I haven’t found anything else that would indicate an issue. If I ever feel frosty I may attach it to a newer tv that I have in my living room to test it. Eventually I will get a computer monitor to replace it.
maybe you tv doesnt support HDMI 1.4?
??? what you mention: no post but working when windows started = fastboot active?
Reset BIOS
i also got different cable HDMI 2.0b. and the result is the same. my monitor is Iiyama XB2483HSU-B3
did you do any oc?
i have Win 10 Pro and everything is fine, my problem is, i dont see POST and BIOS when i start PC, monitor says 'Out of Range' !! .after that Windows is running perfectly
...
you enabled fast-boot in bios!
do a cmos!
fast boot- normal boot, every time is the same
I'm using a Monster 2.0 rated cable and still no post display.
guys - do a CMOS
install flash bios
done everything and the result is the same.
Did anyone know what is the resolution and refresh rate on the onboard GPU?
720p60 is common for bios
so: you boot your PC - and have NO SCREEN in Bios or while Windows Boots; but then, when Win is booted up you will have normal video output?
sounds like a wrong setting in Bios; or a not compatible screen - like HDMI 1.1 vs 2.0 incompatibility
also possible that your bios isnt latest version
as i said: i fixed it for the GA-AB350N-WiFi this way: i flashed latest bios and used an "Amazon Gold" HDMI cable on an LG HDMI 1.4 screen
but actually my problem was: Bios showed video and when Windows loaded driver it got out of range - because the old cable was 1.3a
i assume your error is either compatibility or wrong settings in bios
i'm using the latest bios, and cleared CMOS, the last cable i use was HAMA with 2.0b compitability
i wonder if i use the displayport on motherboard and displayport on monitor if this will work?
mh - as far as i know: when you built the pc fresh - and power it up first time - many user claim that they needed HDMI for first boot
you can now try to use DP
for me DP worked everytime - but my LG screen doesnt have DP // yet it worked on my AOC
