I purchased this CPU in a retail box and the cooler does not appear to be working. It spins very slowly in short bursts and sometimes not at all. The behavior does not change regardless of the fan settings I use in the BIOS. The BIOS is reporting the fan RPM's as "N/A". I also tried connecting the fan to the chassis 4 pin fan connector rather than the CPU fan connector and I still get the same behavior. The motherboard is an ASRock AB350M Pro4.
To me it seems to be the cooler and not the motherboard (the system otherwise POSTs). Are there any other tests I can do to verify this?
How do I go about getting a replacement cooler? Do I need to just return the whole CPU back to Newegg even though it's just the cooler? Will AMD just replace the cooler?
I'm thinking that maybe I should just buy an aftermarket cooler instead of waiting for the returns process.
