I changed my 2950x to a 2990wx to achieve a significant better render performance. First test with 3dsMAX and VRay shows a much better performance for the 2950x with 35 Minutes vs. 2990wx with 42 Minutes. Inbetween I read a lot about memory bandwith, Windows Scheduler and similar things. I installed ProcessLasso (use it since 6 months also for my 5950x). And also the CorePrio Tool from bitsum. I got a little better render performance, 40 Minutes, but not the big one I awaited. Under both processors I did no overcclocking and Windows energy plan is at 100%. All cores are working with 100% and temperture is around 50°C.
Is here someone in this forum or stuff of AMD that can give me a step by step instruction how to setup BIOS, WIndows, ProcessLasso and CorePrio to get the promised performance out of the "monster"?
Because I have seen results in the Chaosgroup benchmark for the 2950x with around 15500 and the 2990wx with around 27500.
My motherboard is a ROG Strix X399-E Gaming with 32GB RAM, G.Skill F4-3000C16D-32GISB DDR4 (have to upgrade to 64GB next time because of bigger render scenes - recommendations fro RAM very welcome) Graphics card is a simple one because it is mainly a render machine. PSU is 750 Watts, while rendering he machine consumes about 320 Watts at all. Please help!
