Possible Cpu Heat Damage

Possible cpu damage

Possible cpu damage

Hi all,

I just built my first pc. Unbenounced to me, I mounted my cpu cooler wrong and it was not in contact with the cpu (ryzen 7800x3d). After seeing high thermals (idling around 70 C), I ran a cinebench test where it immediately skyrocketed (and I turned it off before it hit 90 C). I then figured out the cooler was on wrong and repeated it. Could I have done damage to my cpu in the process or would it have shut down before any damage was done?. I am worried about the multiple times I restarted it, as the cpu (with proper cooling) will already hit about 70 on boot before cooling. Would the cpu have reached a temp during these boot ups thay would damage it?

Side note- Weirdly enough I also opened risk of rain 2 to test why the Temps were so high and it dropped 5 C (not sure why that happened).

I don't think you would have caused any damage if you weren't at the maximum operating temp for long.
