New Build not working with EXPO enabled

I recently switched to AMD with a new build but i am having issues with EXPO enabled. I have tried EXPO I, II both pretty much do the same thing. There is a 1 in 10 chance i could boot into windows but most the time its just a black screen. I have waited at least 20min at one point thinking it was memory learning. DRAM light on Mobo doesnt show issues. Memory Context Restore is enabled. I have no issues with it running at default settings but as soon as EXPO is enable it becomes unstable. I have undated the BIOS to the latest but still doesn't work. If anyone has some insight as to what my problem is it would be great appreciated. Thank you

I had this exact same issue yesterday and got it resolved this morning.

I upgraded from an AM4 ASUS motherboard to an AM5 motherboard.

Previous build

MB - ASUS TUF Gaming x670

CPU - 5800x3D

RAM - Corsair Vengeance PRO 3600Mhz

New Build

MB - ASUS TUF Gaming B650-Plus

CPU - 9900x3D

RAM - G.Skill Trident RGB 64GB (4x16GB) DDR5 6000Mhz

In BIOS originally it was showing my Trident RAM as only 3600Mhz. When trying to enable EXPO it would reset and get stuck on a black screen. The only fix was to reset my CMOS and start over. I tried EXPO I and EXPO II. I tried setting the speed manually and had the same results. Today I was going to update my BIOS and decided to check everything again. I went into Armory Crate and searched for updates. There happened to be on labeled as DIMM. When I installed the update I went back into Bios and enabled EXPO II and now its working great. When I had originally installed Armory Crate yesterday I though I had updated everything. So this is something you can check. You can see I did updates on the 21st and then the Memory update was available today.

I just tried this but unfortunately this was not it. I saw some of the stuff that you had on that list but Memory was not one of them. I pretty much downloaded every driver on the AMD website just to be sure but still nothing. Tried EXPO 1 and 2 still the same results.

Well I may have spoke too soon. After several hours of playing yesterday MY PC crashed again. When attempting to reboot It got stuck on the RAM(orange) light on my motherboard. I had to reset CMOS again.

After a lot of researching RAM, EXPO and RAM speeds. I found out that its sort of normal that a CPU wont always support the full advertised speed and it due to the memory controller on the CPU. It like the silicon lottery.

Everything I found to help get the most out of the ram is by stepping down the speed in the BIOS one option at a time until it becomes stable(IE form 6000mhz to 5800Mhz). Look it up on youtube. It happens with XMP and EXPO.

I'm not new to PC building but I'm not an expert by any means. so I hope this helps

Heres something you can try:

Check the memory kit in QVL
Lower CAS latency a bit or a bunch, anything goes at this time
Disable Memory Context Restore

Lastly either Update BIOS or flashback using an older one.

good luck
