I have an AMD ryzen 5 2600x and an AMD ryzen 3 2200g with latest updates
Both CPU has that problem
If I play a large MIDI note, it WILL lag really bad. (large is like 64notes played together)
Is there any known fix for this kind of issue? Maybe an AMD chipset update.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Thanks that is very help information.
Personally, in my opinion, the problem is with the Novation Launch Pad Pro.
Either it needs better firmware to make it more compatible with the AMD systems or better drivers from Novation or better software/program that uses the Novation for your purposes.
Just for troubleshooting purposes, have you tried to use the most minimal settings to see if it works better or not?
Maybe less BPM etc. Since you mentioned you believe it is that AMD processor can't process the Data fast enough. Maybe by setting it first at it most minimum Settings where it won't put too much stress of the processor and see if it works without the lagging.
Otherwise, maybe some other User familiar with the Launch Pad Pro can help you since I am not at all knowledgeable about your MIDI device.
If interested you can open a AMD Support ticket and asked their opinion and see what they suggest if anything from here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/contact-email-form
By the way, here is the latest AMD CHIPSET drivers for your B450 Motherboard: https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/b450
MSI Support has a newer CHIPSET version to install from 11/2021. Not sure if it is the same version as AMD CHIPSET from 10/2021.
Do you have your motherboard's latest Non-BETA BIOS version installed: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450-TOMAHAWK-MAX/support#down-bios
I noticed that the latest BIOS version is a BETA type BIOS so I don't know how buggy or stable this BIOS version is. But it does update the AMD processor besides making it compatible with Windows 11.
The latest Non-BETA BIOS improves "USB Device compatibility" which should help with your USB connection.
With very little computer information to go on so:
1- What is the Make & Model of your MIDI Controller? Don't you believe it could be the MIDI Controller issue since it occurs with two different processors?
2- Make & Model of your Motherboard, Windows/Linux version installed, GPU, Audio Device being used (Speakers, A/V Speakers, etc)
3- How is your MIDI Controller connected to the PC?
4-Does your MIDI Controller have an OEM Drivers to install from its Support site?
5-Do you have the latest Audio drivers installed?
6- Is your MIDI controller connected through your Motherboard's USB or Audio Port or are you using your GPU Video Output for audio?
1, I have a novation launchpad pro, and it works perfectly fine with my other intel pc (but it's slow as helll so that's why i want to use my main AMD pc)
2, MSI Tomahawk Max B450M I have windows installed, Nvidia geforce gtx 1050ti. Normal 3,5mm jack output
3, Connected via the cable that I got with the product (USB-A-B printer cable)
4, I have the latest Novation USB audio driver installed for midi devices and the latest frimware on the launchpad aswell
5, Yes I have the latest realtek and asio drivers installed
6, Motherboard USB
Some people mentioned on Novation forum that, AMD cpus aren't handling MIDI devices/notes fast enough
Thanks that is very help information.

It does work with less BPM (changing from 140 to 40)
