Help with upgrade
I have an MSI - B550 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI motherboard with a 990 PRO 2TB PCle hard drive and 32 GB of DDR4 3600MHz of RAM.
I wonder if it is worth upgrading my processor from the Ryzen 7 2700X that I currently have or waiting until I can afford to upgrade the motherboard, CPU, and RAM simultaneously. It does not seem like there are many AM4 CPU's that would make much difference. Can anyone help with this?
I do not think it matters, yet my graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060.
Thanks,

Hi there,
Its a matter of how tight your budget is and what you do the most.
Either you save a lot and get AM5, but everything needs to go, even the GPU, because you'll probably end bottlenecking the CPU with that if you go X3D route.
Or get yourself a massive bump over the 2700X with 5800X3D and keep everything else.
Like I said, it depends on the budget, if you have it go for for the Kill with Am5.
X3D for gaming
non X3D if you are more of a content creator or need the multicore.
Good Luck

Gamers Nexus did this analysis of the 2700X end of last year, short answer yes it is absolutely worth upgrading to the 5800X3D (or 5700X3D, 5700X) if you're looking for an upgrade without replacing the motherboard and memory.
