I just switched to DCS in VR. For some reason I have developed a severe CPU bottleneck. And I mean massive my GPU ( 4090) has dropped from 80 to 85% usage to 35 / 40%. 

I was running a 36in Alienware 165 hz 4k monitor with no problems. I capped everything at 165 and it ran smooth as butter. 

So my question is do I have a software issue or is the 7950X just not able to handle that load on a single core? 

If it is the CPU what would be the better option?

Check if you haven't inadvertidly enabled any power option or ECO Mode.

Clear CMOS in case of doubt or restore to factory defaults.

Watchout for third party apps and Windows Updates.

It is also worth checking your temperatures, it may be throttling for some reason.
