Hi everyone,
sorry for my bad english and the extra long text.
I'm at a point where I'm wondering if I can achieve a lower temperature with the same performance.
I'm not interested in saving electricity and money. I would like to keep the performance and would be happy if the CPU stayed cooler.
If I have completely wrong approaches, then I am of course happy to receive suggestions on how I can achieve this goal.
So far I've only came across the PBO. Here was said that I should use the Curve Optimizer and adjust the limits for PPT, EDC and TDC. Among other things, it was suggested to me to use HWinfo and set the limits so that the values, depending on the situation, should be set between 98% and 99%.
When I try this now, it looks like I can basically do this with PPT and TDC.
Only EDC doesn't play a part. I manage to utilize this value to a maximum of around 62%. After that, if I increase it, the percentage drops or it starts limiting the other values. At least that's what it seems to me.
I know it's hard to wrap your head around what follows now. The numbers show an excerpt from my adjustments up to the point where EDC is at 62% and then the behavior which I described occurs.
I can't explain why I can't use EDC to 100% capacity. Examples with a Ryzen 7600 show that at least with other CPUs it is possible.
Starting at
PPT 78 - 67%
TDC 52 - 57%
EDC 60 - 54%
.
.
.
PPT 89 - 87%
TDC 52 - 94%
EDC 84 - 61,3%
PPT 89 - 91,8%
TDC 52 - 99,9%
EDC 87 - 62,1%
PPT 89 - 91%
TDC 52 - 100,1%
EDC 88 - 61,9%
PPT 89 - 93,3%
TDC 53 - 99,8%
EDC 88 - 62,5%
PPT 89 - 94%
TDC 54 - 99%
EDC 89 - 62,4%
PPT 89 - 93,8%
TDC 57 - 93,6%
EDC 89 - 62,4%
PPT89 - 94,3%
TDC 57 - 94,2%
EDC 92 - 60,9%
.
.
.
PPT 89 - 95,4%
TDC 55 - 99,3%
EDC 92 - 62%
At this point I increase EDC by 1A and the utilization of EDC and TDC decrease. And so it goes on.
PPT 89 - 94,9%
TDC 55 - 98,1%
EDC 93 - 60,8%
I would rule out measurement errors because the Ryzen Master provides the same numbers.
My System:
AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3d
MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk Wifi@7D75v1C
AGESA ComboPI 1.1.0.0
G.Skill 32GB Flare X5 CL30 6000MHz
MSI MAG NVidia RTX 4080 Suprim X
CORSAIR 850W RM850e
Windows 11 Pro 64
Thanks in advice!

The answer is pretty simple, with a 7800X3D part, you shouldn't be lowering those values but trying Curve Optimizer first.
Hi The Englishman, @johnnyenglish
thank you for your reply!
See. Using the Curve Optimizer increased my Mhz but also my Temps
Like. All Cores -22 are at least 5-8° C.
Interesting, in that case you should then tackle the situation with a simple negative offset undervolt on the vCore.
Curve Optimizer is a more elegant undervolt but changes the the "curve", this results in better performance as long as there is headroom to boost.
The offset undervolting is the board calling the shots, it can increase performance but not like curve optimizer. No curve is changed. If the CPU asks for 1,3v then the board supplies that minus whatever you apply to undervolt.
Try -0.050 or -0.060 and see if its stable. Then work your way up or down.
Good luck
OK. Max possible is -0,0250.
But I'm loosing Mhz and Score in CB23.
